Speed Cubing is a fast-paced Rubik’s Cube challenge where participants race against the clock to solve the cube in the shortest time possible. This event highlights pattern recognition, logical thinking, muscle memory, and precision. Whether beginner or advanced, cubers get the chance to showcase their skill, speed, and strategy as they twist and turn their way to victory.
Participants compete individually in a timed Rubik’s Cube solving challenge.
Only standard 3×3 Rubik’s Cubes are allowed unless the organizers provide or approve alternative puzzles.
Cubes may be inspected by officials to ensure fairness (no modifications that provide advantage, such as magnets beyond standard or lubricants not allowed).
Each participant will have 15 seconds of inspection time before starting the solve.
The timer begins as soon as the participant makes the first move.
Participants must stop the timer by placing both hands on the timer pad (or raising hands, depending on setup) once the solve is complete.
Each participant will be given 2–3 attempts, with the best time recorded as their official score (organizers may choose 1 attempt for large groups).
If a cube is dropped, misaligned, or popped, the participant must fix it within the time limit on their own.
Extra penalties may apply for:
+2 seconds for minor misalignments
DNF (Did Not Finish) if the cube is incomplete at stop time
No external help, coaching, or device use is allowed during the attempt.
Participants must wait in the designated holding area until their turn to avoid interference.
The fastest official time determines the winner.
In case of a tie, a final tiebreaker solve will be conducted.
Participants are expected to show honesty, discipline, and sportsmanship throughout the event.
