John 8:58 PROVES Jesus is the MESSIAH!
***What Does John 8:58 TRULY mean?
Here is John 8:58 from the KJV. “Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.”
Does John 8:58 PROVE Jesus is Almighty God HIMSELF in the FLESH?
What Does John 8:58 TRULY mean in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God.

The TRUE SOUND Biblical Meaning of John 8:58!
Now, both Trinitarian Christians and Oneness Pentecostal Christians quote John 8:58,59 together and CLAIM that Jesus is saying that he is Yahweh Himself in the FLESH.
Their main argument is that if Jesus was NOT saying that he is Almighty God HIMSELF, then WHY did the Jews pick up stones to stone Jesus?
Thus, they “interpret” Jesus saying the word “before Abraham was I am” to mean that Jesus is saying that he is the great “I AM that I AM” in Exodus 3:14.
John 8:58,59.
“Jesus said unto them, Verily, verily, I say unto you, Before Abraham was, I am.
John 8:59. Then they took up stones to cast at him: but Jesus hid himself, and went out of the temple, going through the midst of them, and so passed by.”
The TRUTH of the matter is that some of the Jews wanted to KILL Jesus from the very beginning of his ministry, according to Luke 4:28-30, which we will read in a moment.
So then, the fact that some of the Jews wanted to stone Jesus in John 8:59, does NOT prove that Jesus was saying that he is Yahweh Himself in the flesh in John 8:58.
The KEY to understanding the TRUE SOUND Biblical meaning of John 8:58 in the LIGHT of its CONTEXT and in the LIGHT of the WHOLE word of Almighty God is the Greek word “ginomai”, Strong’s number G1096, translated as the English verb “WAS”.
John 8:58 b.
“...Before Abraham WAS I am.”
Let us read John 8:58 b again being translate several different ways, including leaving some of the Greek words.
John 8:58 b.
“...PRIOR to Abraham GINOMAI, I EIMI.”
For you see, these two Greek words have several different MEANINGS.
And thus, that can be TRANSLATED in DIFFERENT ways.
John 8:58 b.
“...PRIOR to Abraham GINOMAI I EXIST.”
In other words, one possible meaning could be that Jesus is saying, “...Prior to Abraham coming into being, I come into being.
To say this another, Jesus is saying, I come to be, as in, I was PROPHESIED to come into being before Abraham came into being.
In the context before John 8:58, the Jews asked Jesus if he is greater than Abraham.
To me, Jesus saw that their FAITH was in Abraham MORE than their faith was in the Messiah prophesied to come.
In other words, the Jews did NOT understand that their Messiah would DIE on the cross for their SINS.
The only understanding of their Messiah was a WARRIOR King to free them from the oppression of the Roman Empire.
Now, to me, when I saw the meaning of the Greek word “” means to GENERATE, that opened my eyes to understand the TRUE SOUND Biblical meaning of John 8:58.
Keep in mind the question that the Jews asked Jesus, Are you GREATER than Abraham?
John 8:58 b.
“...PRIOR Abraham being GENERATED I shall be GENERATED.”
In other words, Jesus is saying, before Abraham is GLORIFIED to be made a partaker of the Divine nature, I shall be made a partaker of Divine nature.
To me, this interpretation AGREES with the immediate context, the whole context of the Gospel of John, and the context of the entire Bible from Genesis to Revelation.
Thus, I do NOT believe that Jesus is quoting or even referring to Exodus 3-14 in any way shape or form by saying the words “I am”.
In fact, I believe that the translators of the KJV are a bit dishonest by NOT translating the pronoun “he” like they did in John 8:24.
I believe that John 8:58 should be translated as “before Abraham, I am he”.
But, for the sake of ALL of the possible meanings of John 8:58, let us ASSUME that Jesus is, indeed, quoting or referring to Exodus 3:14.
With that in mind, here is a question that all Trinitarian Christians need to ask themselves and also ask God.
“WHICH I AM was Jesus saying he is? The FIRST I AM or the LAST I AM?”
Remember that Exodus 3:14 says, “I AM that I AM.” The “I AM” is said TWICE.
So then is Jesus saying I am the FIRST or I am the LAST?
Well, the Bible ITSELF teaches us that from the virgin birth to the baptism Jesus was ONLY the LAST “I am” WITHOUT ANY of the FIRST “I am” dwelling in him.
Then, from the baptism to the cross, Jesus was the LAST “I am” with a PORTION of the FIRST “I am” dwelling in him.
And after the cross and resurrection, Jesus is BOTH the FIRST and the LAST by NOW having the FULLNESS of the FIRST “I am” dwelling in him.
Remember that Jesus said that Scripture CANNOT be BROKEN in John 10:34,35.
Thus, all of the other “I AM he” verses of Scripture must AGREE with Isaiah 41:4, which CLEARLY teaches us that the FIRST “I AM” is WITH the LAST “I am”.
Isaiah 41:4.
“Who has wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the FIRST, and WITH the LAST; I am he.
Please know and understand that the verb “am” is NOT in ANY of the “I am he” verses of Scripture.
It was ADDED by the translators. And thus, ALL of those “I am he” verses should be translated as “I, he” and understood as I and he TOGETHER are one in UNITY and AGREEMENT.
With that in mind, let us read Isaiah 41:4 again with a more correct translation.
Isaiah 41:4 with a more CORRECT translation.
“Who has wrought and done it, calling the generations from the beginning? I the LORD, the first, and WITH the last; I, he.
In other words, WHO has WORKED and DONE it, calling the generations from the beginning? I Yahweh, the FIRST, and I Yahweh WITH the LAST, I AND he TOGETHER will JUDGE the world.
Now, Trinitarian Christians do NOT like Isaiah 41:4, because Scripture cannot be BROKEN.
They will TRY to argue that the Son was ALWAYS WITH Yahweh, but they do NOT consider the WHOLE word of Almighty God.
The Son was NOT always WITH the FIRST. The Son was RECEIVED UP into heaven TO BE SEATED WITH the FIRST after the cross and resurrection.
So then, my SIMPLE answer for simple Trinitarians is that the translators SHOULD have added the pronoun “he” to say, Before Abraham was, I am he.
To me, that is an HONEST translation.
And if it was translated as, “before Abraham was, I am he, then it would be easier for ALL Christians to see that Jesus was REMINDING the Jews of what he just got through telling them moments ago in John 8:24.
Let us read that verse in its CONTEXT.
John 8:21-26.
.
“Then said Jesus again unto them, I go my way, (Or very soon, I will be RECEIVED UP into heaven to be GLORIFIED and to be SEATED WITH my God and Father on His throne) and you shall seek me, and shall die in your sins: where I go, you cannot come.
John 8:22. Then said the Jews, Will he kill himself? Because he said, Where I go, you cannot come.
John 8:23. And he said unto them, You are from beneath; I am from above: you are of this world; I am not of this world. (Now, Trinitarian Christians use this verse to TRY to prove that Jesus pre-existed as God the Son for all eternity past.
However, Jesus ALSO said in John 17:14-18 that WE are NOT of this world in the SAME WAY that Jesus is NOT of this world.
And Jesus being from above simply means that the ORIGIN of his VIRGIN BIRTH was from above.
Jesus could also mean that he was BORN-AGAIN from ABOVE and the Jesus are dead in the sins, being the children of Satan BENEATH)
John 8:24. I said therefore unto you, that you shall die in your sins: for if you believe not that I am he, you shall die in your sins. (Now, the Apostle John, who wrote these words, tells us EXACTLY who Jesus is in John 20:30,31.
John wrote the WHOLE Gospel of Jesus so that we would believe that Jesus is the CHRIST, the SON OF the Loving God.
And thus, Jesus is simply saying, I am he, the Christ, the Son of God, the one PROPHESIED to come in the Scriptures)
John 8:25. Then said they unto him, Who are you? And Jesus said unto them, Even the SAME that I said unto you from the beginning, (So then, WHO did Jesus TELL the Jews WHO he was from the very beginning.
Jesus said, I am the ANOINTED of God, the Messiah prophesied to come, this Scripture is FULFILLED in your ears.
Jesus CLEARLY told the Jews and us WHO is he in Luke 4:1,16-30, the beginning of his MINISTRY.
Notice in Luke 4:28-30 that the Jews sought to KILL Jesus for simply saying that they would NOT accept him as being a PROPHET sent by God.
Also, notice that Jesus said he was the ANOINTED one of God prophesied in Isaiah 61:1-3)
John 8:26. I have many things to say and to judge of you: but He that sent me is true; (Or the One SENDING me is true) and I speak to the world those things which I have heard of Him. (To all my Oneness Pentecostal believers, please notice that He and me are two separate beings.
Plain and simple, Jesus is NOT Almighty God the Father)
John 8:27. They understood not that he spoke to them of the Father.
John 8:28. Then said Jesus unto them, When you have lifted up the Son of MAN, then shall you know that I am he, and that I do nothing of myself; but as my Father has taught me, I speak these things.
John 8:29. And He that sent (Or the One SENDING) me is WITH me: the Father has not left me ALONE; (Or the Father has NOT sent me ALONE. Rather, God ANOINTED me with His Holy Spirit before he SENT me) for I do always those things that please him.
John 8:30. As he spoke these words, many believed on him.”
Please notice that after Jesus spoke THESE words in John 5:21:30 that MANY BELIEVED on Jesus.
Now, if the Jews UNDERSTOOD that Jesus was saying he is the great I AM that I AM in John 8:24, do you think that they would have BELIEVED on him?
No! Of course not. But they would BELIEVE on Jesus as being the CHRIST, the one prophesied to come in the Scriptures?
They ASKED Jesus, WHO are you. Jesus answered them, the SAME that I told YOU in the BEGINNING.
SOME Trinitarian Christians TWIST the phrase “in the beginning” to me John 1:1.
Is that a logical interpretation of Jesus saying the SAME that I told you in the BEGINNING?
NO! Absolutely not. Simply ask yourself the question, were the JEWS ALSO with God in the beginning to HEAR Jesus tell THEM who he is?
NO! Of course not. So then, John 1:1 is NOT the “beginning” that Jesus INTENDED his words to mean.
Rather, it was the beginning of his MINISTRY.
Plain and simply, Jesus is the FULFILLMENT of the SCRIPTURES.
The word of God is the SEED that is PLANTED and then God gives the INCREASE to bring to pass what He has PROPHESIED to be.
The TRUTH is that the human Son of God was RECEIVED UP into heaven to ENTER INTO GLORY.
To all my Trinitarian Christians readers, have you ever wondered about John 3:16?
It is TRANSLATED as God so loved the world that He GAVE His only BEGOTTEN Son, that whosoever believes in him should not perish, but have everlasting life.
How can God GIVE His only BEGOTTEN Son if the Son NEVER had a BEGINNING?
When I say that the Son of God did INDEED have a BEGINNING, I looked up the Greek word that is “translated” and GAVE.
And I saw that it also means RECEIVED. In other words, God so loved the world that He RECEIVED His only BEGOTTEN Son up into heaven to be GLORIFIED and SEATED at His Right hand on His Throne to rule FOR Yahweh during the world to come.
