Materials Inspect

Project Description

Materials Inspect is the mobile app for iPad and iPhone devices which is used by the materials inspectors at Tecnicas Reunidas. The mobile app has been designed by the Apple+IBM team, and implemented by IBM iX. The services which support the mobile application are hosted on-premise, built with ASP.NET technology and are integrated with several on-premise TR systems.

The app allows users to:

• Check the inspection visits that the inspector is required to perform in the following dates.

• Download the complete visit data in order to work offline at the facilities.

• Fill several types of forms which are rendered by a dynamic form engine implemented in both app and server.

• Accept or reschedule visits according to the inspector availability.

• Read and send notifications to the inspection supervisor.

• Digitally sign documents and inspections by using Apple Pencil or drawing with the fingers.

• Take pictures with the camera while performing the inspection, drawing over the pictures and adding annotations.

• Complete the forms by using voice interaction instead of typing on the virtual keyboard.

What I've done

• Lead the development team for both app, web and server teams.

• Defined the API supporting the mobile app and the web app.

• Defined the backend database model and logic, including the integration with TR systems.

• Collaborated in design workshops where app functionality is defined, with Apple and IBM designers, and TR key users.

• Supported the app development team, located in Bangalore, India, and the services and backend development team, located in Madrid, Spain.

• Developed tests scripts for services automated testing.

• Participated on recurrent follow-up sessions with customer and report progress, status and technical advice.
