Indicators are qualities of an anthroid that cannot be changed through potion, mechanical, or magical means. They are permanent fixtures of the species and must be present at all times to make it easy for staff to identify the species or are integral to the species lore.
For motti, these indicators are:
The subspecies specific antenna.
The iris of the eyes, tongue, innards (flesh) and magic MUST match in color.
Motti must have long necks, double spiracule "nostrils" and digitigrade legs.
Below are the currently discovered Subspecies.
There may be more in the world that haven't been revealed yet...
Will you be the one to discover them?

(drawn by balkeir)
Motti Species Checklist:
🗸 Inners & magic color match (Iris, flesh, scars, mouth, spiracle insides)
🗸 Double spiracle "nostrils"
!! If hairless or scaled, spiracles appear on the arteries of the neck, beneath the collarbone and three rows along the ribcage. (Examples [here] on the Motti Lore page)
🗸 Long neck
🗸 Digitigrade legs
Animotti Specific:
🗸 Antenna: Solid, thin, and unicolor
✗ No heterochromia for eyes
🗸 Thick forearms, large hands, legs and hand-like feet
🗸 May mix and match or have any type of body covering (fur, feathers, scales, wool, etc)
🗸 May have any kind of ears and tail or no ears or tail, but may not have multiple ears or tails
Rarity: Common
Subspecies based on animals like mammals, reptiles, amphibians, birds and certain fish
Anything falling within "Phylum Chordata"
Antenna Type: Solid, thin, unicolor antenna. May be straight or curved. Unlike other subspecies, Animotti antenna have nerves within them, making them very sensitive. Natural shedding and snaps can occur which feel like a hair being plucked from their head, but cutting antenna before it's ready to pop off naturally will feel sharp and will bleed. They may also bend, curl or move expressively, but cannot be wound tightly or split at the ends.
Physical Variations: Ears and tail may be of any type and may change freely. Body cover may change freely as well, appearing as wool, fur, scales or hairless. They may have one tail or no tail, but cannot have double or multiple tails without a Duplecrearemorph Vial. They also can only have one set of ears. The body cover may change at any time and may have multiple showing at once. Ex: Scaled belly and legs with a furry back.
Subspecies Perk: May freely alter ears, tail and body cover without vials

Commonly referred to as "Arthras"
Rarity: Common
Subspecies based on bugs
Anything falling within "Phylum Arthropoda"
Antenna Type: Thick stalks with a fluffy bulb at the end. The bulbs can be shaped as long as they remain fuzzy. When it's time for the antenna to shed, the bulbs will pop off, sometimes part of the stalk of the antenna will come off too.
Arthras may regenerate limbs and if they find their antenna getting too long, they can add a tight clip to the stalk to prepare to cut it off safely after a few days. If they cut it off without preparing it, the antenna will hurt a lot and bleed.
Physical Variations: They are the smallest subtype of motti, typically measuring as short as 60cm to maxing out at 90cm. They have no protruding ears and instead have slits just behind the antenna. They also feature large, fluffy manes and bulbous tails. Arthras also retain their second pair of arms from nymphood and may also have insect wings, though the wings are not toggleable. Their feet are also larger and more rounded than other subspecies and they often have pointed fangs that may come over the lip.
Subspecies Perk: If containing wings, the motti can fly. Unlike other motti which are not able to "spider climb," all Arthras have the ability to scale any non-slick surfaces with ease. It may appear as if they're defying gravity as they easily walk up vertical surfaces and ceilings, even having the capability to cling to said surfaces while they sleep. In addition, they have limb regeneration, though cannot generate mana while limbs are regenerating.
Subspecies Detriment: Physically weaker than other motti subtypes.

✗ No heterochromia for eyes
🗸 No visible ears
🗸 Large, fluffy "lion" style manes
🗸 2 Pairs of arms with thick forearms, large hands, legs and larger, more rounded hand-like feet
🗸 Large, bulbous tail

🗸 Long neck
🗸 Digitigrade legs
Dyamotti Specific:
🗸 Antenna: Split at the base on either side of the head, with glowing bulbs at the ends. One set of antenna is always shorter than the other, and each of the 4 stalks must be unicolor. (Can be 4 different colors total)
🗸 Must have heterochromia for eyes, making the inner colors dual toned as well.
🗸 Pick and choose traits (ears/tails/arm thickness/etc.) from whichever subspecies themes your dyamotti consists of.
!! If unsure, check your design in the ❓︱design-check channel
Commonly referred to as "Dyads"
Rarity: Rare
A mix of two other motti subspecies
Antenna Type: Dyad antenna split at the base and form glowing bulbs at the ends. The shorter set do not shed, but the longer set may grow to varying lengths, be trimmed and the bulbs may shed. The bulbs will glow for about a month brightly, but will then dim to a soft glow until they're used for crafting purposes. The bulbs are squishy, with a marshmallow like texture and are edible. The taste varies dependent on the individual motti. Typically motti themselves do not consume these bulbs however, as it's seen as invasive and inappropriate.
Much like animotti antenna, each shaft must remain one color, though the short and long shafts may be differing colors, or even all four may differ in color. Dyad antenna tend not to match due to their duality nature, but they can from time to time.
Dyad bulbs contain a range of essentia, some are potent and others are weak. They're most commonly used to make vials, boosters and familiar related potions and treats.
Physical Variations: All dyads must have heterochromatic eyes, meaning both eyes must be different colors.
For Animotti x Arthramotti specifically, when either one or both pairs of arms are hidden, there must be an obvious band from one shoulder, around the back, to the other shoulder. Much like Animotti ears and tails, the Ani x Arthra dyads have the ability to hide or change their arms, but not their legs. Like the Animotti cannot create more tails, they cannot create more than two sets of arms.

Commonly referred to as "Fodas"
Rarity: Common
Subspecies based on food or drinks
Antenna Type: Large plumed, segmented antenna. Each segment may be a different color, but can't have multiple colors per segment. As it absorbs and purifies essence, the later segments become heavy and thick and begin to droop. Since it is segmented, the ends of the antenna can be popped off when they become too heavy. If the antenna are trimmed in between segments it doesn't typically hurt.
Foda antenna are often used to make magical quill pens which are used in messenger scrolls, verbal spellcasting, and to write encrypted messages.
Physical Variations: Large ears of varying length with tufts of fur at the points. Ears may stand erect or flop over. The tail is wispy like smoke or fog and can vary in size.
Subspecies Perk: Immune to fire damage. Fire doesn't burn them nor feel hot to the touch. They are not immune to lava, however. Ability to conjure, douse and manipulate fire and water elements. They do not have the ability to manipulate lava, ice, or steam.
Subspecies Detriment: Extreme weakness to Ice elements.

✗ No gradients or multiple colors on individual segments of the antenna
!! Segments must retain very basic shapes
🗸 Large, rabbit-like ears with tufts of fur on the ends
✗ No heterochromia for eyes

Fungimotti Specific:
🗸 Antenna: Thin stalks that may branch. All ends must have a spore puff. Spore puffs can vary in size and color. Stalks may have many mushroom rings on them or none at all and this can change at any time. No extra growths can appear on the antennas.
🗸 Ears appear to have shaggy, "peeling" tags with a "spore bearing surface" on the underside. Spore bearing meaning gills, pores, ridges or teeth. Ears changed with Aurismorph still must grow down from under the cap since they are still attached to the head. Cannot grow through or on the cap itself.
✗ No heterochromia for eyes
🗸 Bare body covering by default. All spiracles must be present. Shaggy "peeling" tags may appear on any part of the body (except antenna) but may not cover spiracles.
🗸 Thin forearms with small hands. Legs have "bell bottom" type calves that may partially or fully cover the hand-like feet.
🗸 Tails are thick at the base where connecting to the body and often are heavy. They flare out at the end where a spore puff must be present. The spore puff can be of varying sizes.
🗸 Without needing a Buddingmorph Vial, they can change the Flora / Fungi that grow on their bodies at any time. Mushroom scales, mushroom skirts, and shaggy "peeling" tags may also appear on or disappear from their body at any time.
Commonly referred to as "Mushies" or "Fun Guys"
Rarity: Uncommon
Subspecies based on any yeasts, fungi, mushrooms, molds
Subspecies based on the Kingdom Fungi
Antenna Type: Antenna must connect to the cap, at the front of the cap and above the motti's eyes. They cannot branch from the sides, from the very top or from the back.
Antenna are thin and can branch off in multiple places, though all branching parts must have a spore puff at the end. The spore puff may only be a rounded shape. Similar to a dandelion puff.
The stalks, branches, and puff balls may be any number of colors or gradients. The spore puffs may also be of various sizes.
The stalks and branches may have mushroom "skirts" displayed on them. The number of skirts can change to many or none at all. Little spores shed frequently from the antenna and they aren't trimmed like most, but instead, "dusted" onto parchment paper or into binding pastes to be converted into essentia. If the puffs are clipped, the Mushmotti will often feel unwell for a few days while it regrows. Repeated trimming may result in early withering and regular illness.
Physical Variations: Fungimotti are unique in that they have mushroom caps growing from their heads.
This is a non-removable feature of Fungimotti. Their caps may range from any classical mushroom caps; bell shaped, triangular, upturned, rounded, depressed. Cordyceps or Enoki style mushroom caps are not allowed. (examples soon)
And the underside of the cap may have either gills, pores, ridges or teeth. (examples soon)
A Fungimotti can use a Crownmorph Vial to change the cap shape, the underside of the cap, or the spore bearing surface to be different. Only Fungimotti can have mushroom caps on their heads, other Motti cannot use morphs to mimic this.
Fungimotti ears grow down from under the mushroom cap and are often floppy. They can stand erect if desired, but would curve up from under the mushroom cap, not grow through it. The ears grow like thin strips of bark. The outside surface isn't smooth, but instead has a flaky, textured appearance. The length of the ears may be long or short, with edges that are either smooth or jagged in appearance. The inner side of the ear mimics a "spore bearing surface" like real mushrooms, the texture can look like mushroom gills, pores, ridges or teeth.
By default, Fungimotti do not have fur or hair. Their bodies are dense, with a slight spongey like surface and bruise easily. Even their bones are more brittle than other Motti, they aren't built for heavy physical tasks. Fungimotti thrive in humid environments, but are highly susceptible to fire, ice, cold, hot and dry weather. They may get sick more often than other Motti.
Flora and Fungi can grow anywhere on their bodies (except the antenna) and the type and amount can be toggled at anytime for free, not requiring a Buddingmorph Vial. "Mushroom scales" also can appear on their body and flake off at any time.
The tail is thick at the base where it connects to the body and is often heavy. It flares out at the end where a spore puff is present. The size of the spore can be varying sizes, but must be present on the default tail.
Subspecies Perk: May control the Terra element innately. Perceptive to learning new magic. They catch onto learning new magics easily, but also seem to have proficiency with spells and abilities. (-1 step required to learning spells, may cast most spells twice as often as others can). In addition, it seems that they can toggle the types of flora and fungi that grow on them at any given time without the need of a Buddingmorph Vial.
Subspecies Detriment: Extremely susceptible to the weather and extreme heat or cold. Physically weaker, like Arthras. Often bruise easily and have brittle bones. Cannot learn Fire magic.

Commonly referred to as "plantas," "floras," or "herbas"
Rarity: Common
Subspecies based on the Kingdom Plantae
Antenna Type: Vine or Branch-like antenna with accents like buds, leaves, flowers or fruit growing on them depending on their theme. They may have multiple accents if applicable to their theme.
These motti cannot switch between branch-like or vine-like antenna. They must have either or.
When leaves, fruit or flowers pop off, they are edible and charged with magical essence and are used in tonics and potions, especially to combat malnutrition in absorption of essence for overharvested antenna or in Nymphs who have trouble absorbing essence passively. You can tell the difference between buds from the antenna versus the body or flora in the environment because they give a soft colored glow from the motti they come from. For example, the Common Dandelion to the left has yellow soul magic, (hence the yellow irises and innards) and so when the dandelions pop off or if the vine antenna were trimmed, they would glow a soft yellow.
Herba antenna are often used to brew Cura Vials, which may cure anything from missing limbs, injured eyes (not blindness or deafness), or basic ailments like poisonings, light sicknesses like the flu, strep throat or pneumonia etc. They are highly sought after magical components.
It doesn't hurt to trim Herba antenna with shears or scissors, though it may feel uncomfortable to twist or pop off the vines or buds growing on them.
Physical Variations: May grow moss, grass or other wildflowers on the body, though they cannot grow branches, fruit or vines without an additional buddingmorph. They are more slender with smaller forearms and longer legs. They also have rounded ears with fluff poking out and a tail that splits off in varying places, and this can change to be more or less, much like breaking off a branch or clipping a plant. Budding growths on the body do not embody magical essentia like those that come off the antenna.
Subspecies Perk: Immune to poison and toxins. Innate healing magic that can heal light ailments like runny noses, sore throats, scratches or bruising. They also have amplified purification abilities.
Subspecies Detriment: Extreme weakness to Fire and Ice elements. Cannot learn Fire magic.

🗸 Body is bare by default. No fur, wool, scales etc.
🗸 Spiracles must be visible on the neck and ribs.
🗸 Either an obviously segmented, cylindrical/rounded tail that can be of varying lengths which can be translucent and/or opaque OR a ribbon-like, thin, flatworm style tail which cannot be translucent.
Commonly referred to as "Vermies"
Rarity: Common
Subspecies based on any kind of living worms
Anything falling within the Phyla Annelida, Platyhelminthes, Nematoda, etc
Antenna Type: Obviously segmented, translucent or opaque antenna that have a gummy like texture. They are very stretchy!
Physical Variations: No ears or fur on the body, though it seems that fur or hair can grow exclusively on the head. The skin is smooth and slightly clammy with the spiracles obviously present. Their tail can be of varying lengths, but must have obvious segments by default OR it may be a thin "flatworm" style, though the flatworm style cannot be translucent. The hands and feet appear clubbed with thin, flexible digits. Antenna, tail and fingers/digits may be transparent or opaque. They can change between transparent or opaque freely. The limbs, torso and neck cannot be translucent.
Subspecies Perk: They have the ability to stretch and contract their bodies drastically, appearing as though they're made of rubber. This is not an infinite ability and they are only able to extend their bodies about double their length. (For example, arms may be double their length, bodies may stretch to twice their height.) They do retain the unique ability to control the terra element which includes soil and rocks. Vermies have a regenerative ability that's even stronger than the arthra's, allowing them to regenerate from just their heads, though this takes two seasons for them to completely regrow. They have an additional unique ability which limits their visual aging, making it impossible to know how old an adult Vermiotti may be until they naturally show signs of withering.
Subspecies Detriment: Vermies have bad eyesight and hearing which negatively affects their perception. Their skeletons are flimsy and flexible, making them quite weak to attacks and clumsy, affecting their defense. They have extreme weakness to Ice elements and the cold weather.

Nymphs have special restrictions in game play. Keep that in mind if you decide to make one!
They cannot consume potions, perform magic or participate in certain tasks and events.
To the left are examples of the only ear type available to nymphs. The prick, half-button, button and drop ears.
Inner ears may match their innards color (blue or black) or match the natural color scheme of nymphs. Neutral colors like black, brown, white, natural reds, yellow or green.
Their antenna are always one color of blue and have no gradients or designs on them.
Their innards colors may only be blue or black.
For their fur colors, they may only have: black, brown, white, natural reds, yellow or green.
All other colors are not found on nymphs naturally, though a caretaker or guardian may provide natural, non-magical pigments for mothlings and pups to dye their fur with.
Pigments do not allow their eyes, innards or antenna colors to change however.
