Duels

Overview

  • Duels are a way to have an organised 1v1 in a closed arena.

How to Request a Duel

  • To request a duel, use /duel <playerName>.

  • The player you request will have 2 minutes to accept. They don't have to accept if they don't want to.

If they are the Juggernaut and not on a duel cooldown, they will have 5 minutes.
  • If they accept, you'll receive a notification and a 15-second countdown will begin.

  • Ensure you have all required gear you need in your inventory. /vchest is not accessible in the duel arena.

  • Once the 15-second countdown is up, you will both be teleported to the arena.

  • At this point, up to 60 seconds is spent on betting. Go to the bottom of this page to see how betting works.

There is a way to skip this betting period. Go to the bottom of this page to see how.
  • Once betting is complete, a 5-second countdown will begin, and then the duel begins.

  • When the duel is over you will both be teleported back to where you came from in Middle-earth.

  • The winner earns 10 LSX.

Notes

  • You get automatic Regeneration I and Strength I potion effects in the duel arena.

You are allowed to bring and use other potions, such as Fire Resistance.
  • Anything can be used in a duel except the following:

  1. Balrog Whip special ability.

  2. Ender Pearls.

  • Duels don't have any difference to PvP in Middle-earth other than the above.

For example, they still affect your stats, armour and weapon durability, LOTR Mod bounties, Juggernaut, etc.

Spectating

  • Players can visit the duel spectator area at any time using /duel spectate. Use the same command to return to Middle-earth.

  • There is a VIP spectator room accessible only to donators. Right-click the [VIP] sign in the normal spectator area to enter.

  • The VIP room has a bar where you can purchase drinks for coins, as well as pipes and pipe-weed.

  • Note that anything you buy isn't saved when you leave the spectator area, so make sure you consume what you want before leaving!

Betting

  • At the beginning of a duel, 60 seconds are spared to let either participants or spectators bet.

  • To bet use /duelbet and follow the instructions in the command.

  • Note that if enough people use /duelbet decline, the 60 second betting period ends early and the duel begins.

If there are just two of you duelling with no spectators, only one of you needs to use this command to make the duel begin immediately.
  • Anyone can bet any number of coins on either or both of the players in the duel.

  • Should your chosen player win, you'll get whatever you bet back, plus the percentage of all bets on the other player which is proportional to how much the total bets for your player consisted of your money.

  • A bit complicated, I know. Essentially, if your player loses, you lose your cash. The only exception is if nobody bet against you, in which case you'll get it back. If your player wins, you get that back PLUS part of what players bet on the opposing player.

  • The more you bet on your player, the more profit you'll get, and the more others bet on the other player, the more profit you'll get. This means that if nobody bets against you, and your player wins, you'll make no profit (but no loss either).
