Pre-fracture, the land was green and lush with life. It was filled with plants and animals familiar to us, and heavily developed by people. While the southern end of the continent was mostly dedicated to rural farmlands and tropical retreats, the northern end was almost entirely covered in mankind's buildings.

Day to day existence was much like our world, with the additional of a bit more animal intelligence. Mankind lived in technologically advanced structures of their own creation. Animals lived alongside them and around them. Fate was not yet pitted against them, with almost all strife coming from their own conflicts.

Pre-Fracture Landmarks

Southern Coast - The Fated Leys

On the southern tip of the mountains, nestled between the peaks and the coast, two ley lines rise from the earth. They were just barely visible to the untrained eye, making the air shimmer like pavement on a hot day. The Line Runners revered these ley lines, and would follow their offshoots in pursuit of fate. Those who lingered near these ley lines reported strange dreams and feelings of unrest, paws itching to carry them somewhere else.

The Line Runners were not the only ones who showed interest in the Fated Leys. Small groups of people would visit them as well, temporarily bringing their magitech with them. They never permanently established their nests in the area, but those who lived nearby always feared they would.

East Coast - Island of the Blazals

This island was home to the war-faring Blazacy. It was remote, accessible only by swimming or by boat. The island is covered in the ruins of a civilization long since passed, as well as more recent, yet similarly-decayed buildings. People frequently visited the site as a tourist attraction, occasionally bringing their pets with them to meet the native feline faction.

The Blazals welcome those who work alongside man, but would turn away anyone else, going so far as to chase unaffiliated individuals into the sea. Blazals were friendliest with visiting cats, but would behave respectfully towards any who clearly worked with man.

Northern Mountains - Fort Pipero

The main hub of mankind in the region. Fort Pipero was an incredibly dense city was always shrouded in thick smog. Visitors from the farmlands found it grating on the lungs, much to the amusement of the residents. The structures here stretched upwards for miles, with some bold individuals claiming it carried on all the way into space.

These claims were most likely exaggerated.

Every faction and species had free access to the city, but one must be wary when visiting. The local cat rat mobs didn't always take kindly to strangers.

North-Western Mountains, City - Railroad

This railway stretches clear across the entire continent, with many portions of it elevated to avoid obstructing farms and nature. The bold, painted decorations made it a critical landmark for travelers. They say a train passing overhead on your first rail crossing was good luck for the rest of the journey (A rumor that led to many first-time travelers setting up camp there for the day). Those who have traveled alongside man may remember their time in the train cars, passing through the mountains on their way to the city.

Travelers have likely passed this railway. The locals are so familiar with the railways that they use the regular passing of trains to tell the time.

South-Eastern Plains - The Commune's Dens

The largest rabbit warren on the continent was located in a rural mankind settlement, though the exact location was carefully guarded by its elders. This warren was rarely inhabited by rabbits, reserved for their finest celebrations. The tunnels were slowly chipped away by generations of rabbits, etched into stone instead of soil. Here, on the finest stone in the finest burrow, the rabbits made their art. Only the freshest areas of construction were left untouched by their paints and dyes. The colorful art in the passageways serves as a way to store their lives and histories. Their favorite foods and their closest friends.

Typically, warrens must be navigated entirely by memory and touch as the burrows remain pitch black at all times, but this particular burrow is well lit by extensive length of mankind's magitech. Tiny motes of light chained together, then pinned to the walls and ceiling by one particularly resourceful rabbit. There are at least two separate paintings of the event in the depths of the burrow.

As this location was rarely visited, few predators had to opportunity to find this burrow. Rats and Coyotes aligned with the Commune may have had a special invitation to visit. Any Coyote visitors would find the trip terribly claustrophobic, with the tunnels barely chiseled big enough to fit a creature so tall.

Southern End of the City - Sales under the Rails

Sketchy merchants and respected traders rejoice! For here has been founded the finest underground market in the continent. Worry not about who will see you buying what, and who is going to tell who what they saw. At Sales Under the Rails, all patrons are welcome, and all patron's privacy is respected. See how rats trade with coyotes with perfect ease! There is no fear of becoming prey here. Should you find yourself eyeing up that tasty piece of prey, simply stop buy one of the many convenient food stalls. The people have more than enough food to spare, and you can try it all here at Sales Under the Rails!

This open air market is open to all merchants for trade and all buyers for browsing. Located in a waterway just south of the city's railyard, this market was readily accessible to anyone in or near the city. Scams were common, but so were bargains, and many once in a lifetime opportunities made their showing here. It was a must see of the pre-Fracture world.

The market was typically only open at night, so as to avoid attracting too much of mankind's attention.

North-Western Woods - The Redwood Atrium

An ancient redwood tree that was split down the center and survived. Natural light filters in from the crack, and several chambers are hollowed out at different heights on the tree. Old bands of boars, Rovers and Glory Hunters alike, would frequent the hollow to socialize, form new bands, exchange information, and organize hunts.

The Atrium and surrounding trees bear intricate relief sculptures, carved around the bases. Experienced artists would chisel these sculptures, recording glorious hunts and significant events in history. Artists were bandless boars who resided in the redwood forests. They mostly provided for themselves, but visitors to the atrium were expected to support their craft by gifting them with foods and trophies.

Trophies from impressive catches were often displayed here too-some as part of the art, and some as payment for it. Only the best of the best were displayed on their own, as a separate piece of art to be seen. Trophies never remain on display for long, as they grow foul with age.

The Redwood Atrium was primarily accessibly to boars, though some other species may have rarely gained access. It was an incredibly dangerous place for carnivorous species to visit, as vigilantes guarded the grove with a nearly religious zeal.
