Whether officially applying to the group or sticking around the discord to observe, it is expected that you have read over and agree with all of our rules, and are aware of the content warning on the front page.
If you find another user purposely breaking rules, please do not confront them in chat! Instead DM an admin (Ox, Krill or Zhee) and we will address the situation appropriately.
Please use common sense on what is acceptable behavior and what isn't. Don't be a dick. Treat other's with the same respect you want to be met with. Don't let IC events poison your OOC interactions. Avoid backhanded comments or malicious sarcasm targeted at other players.
Below are some more specific rules to follow, more may be added as they come up.
All content created for the group will be added to the gallery - a website we put together so that all player art is in one place. Featured player art/writing will have a link to the original submission/creator. Some player submissions may end up on the main website. We want to let you guys contribute a lot to the world, and this will help make things official.
Avoid metagaming: Don't use OOC knowledge to give yourself an edge IC
Don't powerplay or take control of other's characters
If fighting a warped above your threat level in roleplay, the battle must be run by a DM in discord
In character actions net in character consequences
Because characters in LLR take so long to craft and cultivate, death is not our first choice when things go wrong. DMs will rarely kill a character under normal circumstances. Instead, characters are more likely to receive BANES - long term disabilities and diseases that reduce the character's stats.
Death is most commonly done by the request of the roleplayer, or as the consequence of severely unwise actions.
Quests and perils are the exceptions to these rules. Heading out on a quest or into peril puts your character at risk of death due to bad luck and unbeatable odds. If you're concerned about the risks to your character, ask your DM about the risks entailed in a certain action.
At the moment, only designated Dungeon Masters (DMs) can run quests for group members
Loot:
Karma, Flux, materials and known crafted items are expected be tracked by the player using the group guidelines
Please have a link to your character's inventory/tracker easily accessible
New items, unique items, quest rewards, and other special cases will need an admin to confirm the award
Damaging PvP must be declared and agreed upon by both players OOC, in public, before it begins. Additionally, if you intend for it to be deadly combat, you must both agree to deadly combat.
If your character would engage in combat due to roleplay reasons, but the other player does not agree to PvP, then you must deescalate the roleplay somehow. Maybe a warped shows up to distract them, maybe an NPC interferes, you decide
If you chose to engage in PvP in a PUBLIC channel, other people may join in. They must agree to the same PvP rules if they wish to join
Non-damaging PvP may be started in character with no forewarning
Damaging PvP: Hitting with claws, teeth, weapons, or other things likely to cause real harm. Poisoning. Pushing someone off a cliff. Using damaging powers on another character. Stealing. One or more characters in these scenarios is attempting to wound, harm, or afflict another character.
Non-Damaging PvP: Sparring. Playfighting amongst children. Slapping someone for being too sassy. Using non-damaging powers on another character. Characters in these scenarios may be rough or aggressive, but they aren't trying to cause lasting damage. Non-Damaging PvP can be a good entry point into Damaging PvP if both players agree to escalate.
Deadly Combat: Deadly combat is irreversible. These types of story events are too impactful to the world to be reversed. If you agree to deadly combat and have regrets later, you will need to roll a new character to play instead. Characters are downed when they reach zero vigor. In deadly PvP, the victor of the battle can choose to make a killing blow after their target is downed. This killing blow must be made clear both in and out of character, so as to leave no ambiguity of what has been done.
Arbitration:
If two characters are in conflict and the roleplayers cannot come to an agreement on what should be done, they can request admin arbitration. A mod can help set up some prompts and goals to act as a tiebreaker, provide npc support, or otherwise help end a stalemate. Be warned, admin arbitration may prove dangerous for your characters!
By default, players only get one player character they can use. A second character may be unlocked later in the game with enough activity.
Players are free to make NPCs as they like, though once created, NPCs are free for everyone to use, player and DM alike.
If you aren't clicking with your current character and want to roll a new one, talk to a DM about retiring your previous character. Retired characters can be converted to NPCs or killed. This is intended to keep the story clean of loose ends.
Players who have been inactive for multiple events will have their characters listed as [WANDERING]. Characters can return to the regular roster by player request after making a new submission.
In character, this means they simply haven't been seen in a while. Perhaps they went out looking for the city, got lost, and eventually made their way back. Maybe they just wanted to strike out on their own for some time. Typically, wandering is innocuous more than life threatening.
We've all got our reasons! If you've got a minute, swing by and let us know you're headed out so we can take you out of the active roster.
If you would like any particular send off for your character(a public announcement that they are leaving the Faction base forever, have perished out in the wilds, etc) just let us know and we can put something together. Send offs give other roleplayers something to work with when their character is missing yours.
Safe travels!
