The old world is one much more similar to our own. It was fllled with lush farmlands, old growth forests, and wildlife, all under the rule of Mankind.
During the Fracture, an immense amount of magical energy washed over the landscape, twisting it beyond recognition. The sky cracked with intense light and earthquakes shook the land. The coastlines receded, the mountains grew, and society collapsed. Now, the regions of the world are much harder to survive in. The survivors have adapted, but few are left wandering the wastelands.
After years of the world changing, it seems to be settling into a new normal. A new moon hangs in the sky day and night, rarely changing its place, yet progressing through the phases over the course of a single day. The sky is volatile, often wracked by fierce storms and new forms of severe weather not seen in the old world. Some areas have withered away to ash, infertile and scraped clean of life. Other have welled up with new sources of magic—a lifeline and a hazard at the same time.
Survivors are becoming familiar with the new rules of the world. Perhaps enough time has passed to begin rebuilding.
