Karma: Currency, earned by participation
Flux: Levels, earned through accomplishments (Learn More)
In setting, characters are granted the karma when they engage with the world around them. Actions aligned to their factions ideals will earn them more karma. These often include helping their faction, saving other characters, defeating warped creatures, inventing new technologies, research, and so on. Each faction's magical energies have different preferences for what to reward, and this both shapes the culture of the faction and can be shaped by faction culture.
Karma is stored within the soul of a character, and a character can feel the amount of karma whirring within them. Characters can trade karma with each other in exchange for goods and services or as gifts.
Out of character, karma is earned through any in character group participation. You can either take the simplified reward "Base Karma" or use a karma calculator to calculate earnings (good for complex/difficult pieces). If you use the calculator, make sure you list which bonuses you applied to the piece in the description somewhere.
If you depict your character in the submission, that character earns the karma.
If you depict multiple of your characters in the submission, you can split the karma.
Gift art/poetry/etc of other peoples characters can earn karma for a character of your choice.
Roleplays can either divide karma earnings evenly or calculate them per player.
Other collaborative creations will have karma divided evenly between contributors.
Karma earnings are tracked in the Character Tracker spreadsheet, which a DM will set up for you when your character is accepted into the group.
In order to officially earn karma, you must link to your art/writing in the SUBMISSIONS channel in discord.
If submitting a discord roleplay, you must back up the roleplay on another website. This way, us mods won't have to worry about deleting history if we decide to reorganize the discord channels.
Any special notes should be mentioned in the submissions channel with the submission link. EX. Prompt Name, Related Event, Requesting Mod Response
Hidden Acts:
On occasion, a character will want to take actions that they are keeping secret from the world. Submitting a hidden act wouldn't make it very hidden, so what is one to do?
Contact the mod team! DM one of us, or ping us in chat requesting a chat. We can help you plan out your secret tricks while providing reasonable opportunities for the drama of discovery. This will help your hidden acts be canon and OOC officially sanctioned. Hidden acts will have their related content submitted after they have been uncovered, or at the discretion of the roleplayer.
Players have the choice between “Base Karma” and “Calculated Karma” when posting submissions:
Base Karma: 3d4 Karma + Admin bonuses if applicable
Calculated Karma: Follows the calculations below
Karma for a submission (drawing/writing) is calculated for the entire piece not individual characters
For roleplays the Karma is calculated for the individual character’s posts
For Solo work: Karma can be split across any characters that you own that are depicted in the piece, if you own multiple you can split it or award all to one character, otherwise, if you don’t own any of the characters you can freely choose one of your own to receive the Karma
For collabs: Collabs by default are assumed an equal 50/50 split between collaborators unless otherwise specified by the players. You are free to split karma however you’d like between yourselves
Giving another user the earned Karma is an option too, for example as payments or similar
The Karma system is designed to be as simple as possible on both players and admins, however, there will be a lot of hidden bonuses for extra effort, creativity, lore-accuracy and much more!
Item loot goes to the depicted character’s at player discretion
