Position Overview
The role of the Associate Vice President Student Life is to assist the VP Student Life in organizing and leading the portfolio members in hosting large-scale annual events for the undergraduate society, including LFS Week and LFS Gala.
Duties of this role include:
Aid with brainstorming, planning, promoting, and executing social events across all Student Life portfolios
Assist the VP Student Life in delegating and overviewing the tasks of portfolio members
Take turn record meeting minutes, along with other Associate VPs
Serve as the primary point of contact with volunteers at events
Coordinate the budget for events with VP Student Life
Create Qualtrics forms to collect volunteer information prior to events
Work closely with VP Student Life, other Associate VPs Student Life, and Social Coordinators to execute these events successfully
Plan volunteer schedule for the day of events, and send out communication to volunteers
Create timelines for events, including set-up, volunteer coordination, and clean-up
Assist the VP Student Life in any way possible
Serve as a non-voting Councilor, attend weekly general council meetings, and other necessary meetings

The role of the LFS Week Coordinator is to organize in collaboration with the VP Student Life and the Associate VP Student Life one of the biggest LFS|US events of the year: LFS Week. The goal of LFS Week Coordinators is to create more faculty pride within the LFS community.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Plan, promote, and organize all aspects of LFS Week including activities for each day of the week
Work closely with the VP Student Life, Associate Vice President Student Life, and Social Coordinators to execute these events successfully
Work with other representatives to effectively engage and bring together the student body throughout LFS Week
Volunteer at events hosted by LFS|US: LFS Week, Career Month, Wednesday Night Dinners, etc.
Attend weekly general council meetings and Student Life Portfolio meetings
Investigate into class schedules to ensure that events are planned at the most suitable times to ensure greater student participation
Assist Social and Gala Coordinators with their respective events following completion of LFS Week

The role of the Social Coordinators is to assist the VP Student Life and the Associate VP Student Life in planning and executing social events for the undergraduate society.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Promote LFS|US to LFS students by bringing students, faculty and staff together through social settings
Host in person (and/or virtual) events such as game nights, themed events, and other socials
Work closely with Vice President and Associate Vice-Presidents Student Life to execute these events successfully
Volunteer at events hosted by LFS|US: LFS Week, Career Month, Wednesday Night Dinners, etc.
Attend bi-weekly general council meetings and Student Life Portfolio meetings
Create a more social environment within LFS|US council by increasing participation of councilors in council meetings
Increase LFS|US awareness to the general UBC student body (other faculties/councils/clubs)

The role of the LFS Gala Coordinators is to work alongside the VP Student Life and the Associate VP Student Life to plan and host the annual LFS Gala. Have you ever planned a large-scale banquet? Whether you have already or are interested in doing so, this is the perfect position to do just that!
Duties of the role are as follows:
Plan, promote, and organize the annual LFS Gala, a formal reception for all faculty students to celebrate the LFS community
Work closely with the VP Student Life, Associate Vice-Presidents Student Life, and LFS Student Services
Represent LFS|US during meetings with LFS Student Services
Arrange the event space booking and catering
Manage the financial budget for all event logistics: gifts, prizes, food, etc.
Apply for additional funding for the events through AMS and UBC
Liaise with the VP Communications to create a promotion plan for the LFS Gala
Serve as a non-voting Councilor, attend bi-weekly general council meetings, Student Life Portfolio meetings, and other necessary meetings
