Position Overview
The Associate Vice President (AVP) Academic works closely with the Vice President Academic to lead and support a dynamic academic and wellness portfolio. This position plays a key leadership role in coordinating student representatives and wellness initiatives within the faculty. The AVP Academic ensures strong communication, collaboration, and execution of events that foster academic growth and student wellbeing.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Work with the Vice President Academic to oversee the work of Health and Wellness Coordinators (4); oversee work of FNH Rep (1), APBI Rep (1), GRS Rep (1), and FRE Rep (1)
Attend and facilitate weekly Health and Wellness and Program Representative meetings, creating meeting minutes and leading event planning
Assist the Vice President Academic in planning meetings and portfolio socials
Assist the Vice President Academic, alongside the Health and Wellness Coordinators, to promote health and wellbeing through advocacy and planning health and wellness centered events
Assist the Vice President Academic, alongside the Program Representatives, to create and facilitate academic and career related events for undergraduate students
Support the Health and Wellness Coordinators and Program Representatives in their event-planning efforts, assisting wherever and whenever needed
Assist the Vice President Academic to manage the Academic portfolio and support year-long objectives
Attend and contribute to bi-weekly LFS|US council meetings

Proven ability to organize and execute workshops, socials, fundraisers—managing logistics, timelines, and volunteer teams

Position Overview
The Health and Wellness Coordinators are responsible for advocating for the mental health and wellness of the LFS student body. They’ll be expected to carry out mental health and wellness initiatives throughout the school year and work closely with the VP and AVP Academic in planning events that will support such initiatives.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Attend bi-weekly general council and Academic committee meetings and be up-to-date on current student and academic matters as presented by the Vice-President Academic and the AMS Representative
Plan and execute events in collaboration with AMS Health and Wellness Services and independently on recommendation by the LFS|US council
Work with Academic Committee on Mental Health Advocacy
Be involved in promoting Health and Wellness through presentations, handing out information, surveys, etc.
Assist in managing the social media presence of LFS|US Health & Wellness team

The role of the Applied Biology Representative is to represent the Applied Biology Major students to LFS|US.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Represent all APBI students in LFS|US and at academic and council meetings
Provide feedback regarding proposed APBI course changes
Participate in creating and executing career- and academic-focused events relevant to APBI Students
Help plan and run Career Month events
Be in contact with APBI professors and staff and work to promote feedback through surveys, in-class clickers, and other various communication forms
Support other Councillors with their specific events and projects
Serve as a voting Councillor, attend weekly general council meetings, and Academic Portfolio meetings
Requirements:
Register as an Undergraduate student in the Faculty of Land and Food Systems with a minimum of second-year standing
Receive nomination signatures and academic approval as stated in the LFS|US Code of Procedures

The role of the Food Resource Economics Representative is to represent the Food and Resource Economics Major students to LFS|US.
Duties of this role are as follows:
Represent FRE students in the LFS|US and at academic and council meetings
Provide feedback regarding proposed FRE course changes
Participate in creating and executing career- and academic-focused events relevant to FRE students
Help plan and run Career Month events
Be in contact with FRE professors and staff and work to promote feedback through surveys, in-class clickers, and other various communication forms
Support other Councillors with their specific events and projects

Participate in creating and executing career- and academic-focused events relevant to GRS students
Help plan and run Career Month events
