On-Call Support Staff

One of the positions that Dr. Rytter has to offer is on-call staff. The primary purpose for this on-call position is to have backup people to cover shifts when her regular support staff can't come into work. Another reason is that Dr. Rytter sometimes needs two staff during certain shifts.

The following are some specific rationales for having on-call staff.

  • Staff can't work one or more of their regularly scheduled shifts in advance during a given month due to a vacation, a mandatory school meeting, or a family member’s declining health. In this case, you will be able to sign up for these shifts when Dr. Rytter emails the monthly schedule around the 25th of the prior month.

  • Sometimes, a staff requests time off during the current month’s schedule. In this case, you will ask to cover these shifts soon after the request has been submitted. All staff are strongly encouraged to ask for time off at least two weeks in advance. Sometimes, it is hard to adhere to this policy due to life events, such as a family emergency or a funeral.

  • Someone can become sick without any advance warning. In these cases, you can be asked to cover an ill staff's shift several hours beforehand.

  • Occasionally, Dr. Rytter requires two people.
