Spartan Combat Walker, Mk. 18
While the original Spartan units were expensive prototypes, rushed into service during the first Kodan Conflict, this modern iteration is being marketed towards the budget-conscious government or private security buyer. Forgoing the compact fusion reactors, heavy armor plating, extravagant energy weaponry, and other expensive elements found on today's top-of-the-line mechanized chassis, the decidedly "retro" Spartan can be turned out in far greater numbers. It is, essentially, a mass-produced version of its distant ancestor. "Quantity has a quality all its own," is the official marketing slogan from Santiago Armaments, and it seems to be working. The stock Mk. 18 runs on a cheap fuel cell, offers a suite of piloting- and targeting-assist software, and can mount a wide array of ballistic and missile weaponry as the mission requires. Simplified systems make it easier for lower-tier pilots to reach basic competence with the walker. However, early reports say the unit is slow, ungainly, and the frame itself is vulnerable to damage. Nevertheless, hundreds of orders have already been placed, and the Spartan is set to become a staple of many military forces.
Lunar Republic GERTY
Derived from EVA units, built for low-to-micro gravity patrol and combat duties, this compact chassis is the backbone of the Lunar Militia. Among other features, each GERTY comes with a helpful artificial personality interface, able to crudely simulate human companionship on long orbital patrols.
