Religion was always complicated in the United Nations of the Galaxy. Only half the UNG's population practices religion, and in that half, there is massive diversity with no clear majority. Most religions in the UNG are tolerant of others and welcome diversity. Ryv Tey Huaa is not one of those religions. The predominantly Human religion is mostly practiced by fanatics who believe that even sharing spaces with heretics is a sin. The Ryv Colonial Pilgrimage Movement (RCPM) was founded in 2807 and had forever been stopped from founding an exclusively Ryv colony, both by circumstance and by the UNG. In 2834, a habitable planet was discovered in a system north of the UNG. RCPM representatives in the UNG parliament petitioned for a RCPM colony there, but were rejected. They continued to protest and petition for a colony, but the UNG, fearing a population loss and diplomatic issues with its northern neighbors, refused. For four decades the RCPM persisted, with the protests turning increasingly violent in the final decade. Finally, the UNG caved, and allowed them to send three ships to colonize the planet. Ryv Tay Huaa practicers flocked toward Elyria in the millions, and the UNG and the RCPM realized that three ships would not be nearly enough.
