Elizabeth's a strong-willed and cheerful individual who has a fondness for anything cute, such as small animals and flowers. Divinator Blavat Sky described her as someone who moves "to their own rhythm." She is "stubbornly fixed" on her hobbies, being both extravagant and somewhat fastidious about her clothes and shoes. She tends to impose her sense of fashion and preferences upon others while doggedly refusing to take no for an answer; for instance, she insisted that Ciel refer to her by her nickname, "Lizzie." Elizabeth maintains an affectation of grace and innocence; her aunt instilled in her the notion that all ladies should act weak and endearing in front of their lords, smile often, and be surrounded by nice things.Nevertheless, beneath the studied display of ladylike mannerisms, Elizabeth is a bold, fiercely talented swordswoman who usually wields double swords: She effortlessly slayed several Bizarre Dolls to protect Ciel and later held her ground against Sebastian, who deemed her strength admirable for a human. Her brother once admitted that her swordsmanship is superior to his. Elizabeth loves Ciel dearly; Blavat even likened her feelings to an "obsession." She's consumed with worry for him and earnestly desires to protect him at all costs. Elizabeth's favorite foods are shortcake, strawberries, and cherries. She also likes strawberry and orange aromatized tea, or Shalimar tea. Her favorite flowers are pink marguerites and she loves animals - especially rabbits, kittens, squirrels, and poodles. PAST

Elizabeth was born to Francis and Alexis Leon Midford in 1874, a few years after her brother Edward. Since his birth a year later, she was betrothed to her cousin "Ciel Phantomhive," the future Earl of Phantomhive and Queen's Watchdog. As the House of Midford is a family of knights and her future role as the Watchdog's wife is a dangerous one, Elizabeth was trained in swordsmanship and fencing from a young age and proved herself to be a prodigy in this regard.When they were young, Elizabeth, "Ciel," and his aunt Angelina Dalles regularly played together at Phantomhive Manor under Rachel Phantomhive's supervision. They were sometimes joined by Vincent Phantomhive.On one occasion, "Ciel" was fencing with her mother. He said that he was scared of strong wives, so he was glad that Elizabeth was the one who'd marry him. Because she wished to become a wife he could protect, she wanted to quit training, but her mother wouldn't allow her to for both "Ciel"'s and Elizabeth's sakes. On December 14, 1885, "Ciel"'s and his twin's tenth birthday, Elizabeth finished "Ciel"'s present - a handkerchief hand-embroidered with an ornate "C" - when her maid Paula burst into her room and informed her about the brutal murders of the Phantomhives. Later, Elizabeth wept at their graves while overhearing a group of ladies, indifferent to their deaths, gossip about trivial things. One month passed and Ciel suddenly returned with his new butler, Sebastian. She was greatly relieved to see him but then realized that she had overgrown Ciel. From that point onward, Elizabeth sought to be a wife capable of protecting him. When Elizabeth won her fencing match and received new shoes as a reward, Paula commented that she had grown even taller. Dismayed, Elizabeth asked for a pair of low-heel shoes instead so that she could "smile and walk beside" Ciel, who was trying hard to be seen as an adult.
