Today's drive would take me to the most southern and eastern border gate of the Kruger.
I saw the biggest variety of animals along the S21 (Nwatimhiri river) and the S28 roads.
I stopped at the Lower Sabie Rest Camp to see if I could secure a camp site on the 15th as I had not been able to book online because the bookings always indicated "fully booked". I was furtunate that I could secure a camp site - Hooray, an extra night in the park. When I returned to my vehicle the hazzards were flashing. I tried to start the vehicle .... it was dead. I noticed the ENGINE warning light was RED which meant that the battery on the remote was flat. Fortunately the Park Shop sold a suitable battery so I could continue my journey. If this occured at a remote waterhole with no mobile reception, the story could have been a lot more exciting. Last time I replaced the battery was about 10 years ago.
During the afternoon day drive, I stopped at the Mpondo Dam on the S102 and spent about 90 minutes watching animals visit the dam.
Besides the common sightings, the highlight was watching Vultures circling in the air and landing on a killing site. The carcus was probably the remains of a Zebra or large antelope that Lion killed the previous day. There must have been over 40 vultures at the site. I also came accross a Hyena Den with the mother and 3 pups. The pups were close to the age where they would be able to start fending for themselves.
This Hyena lay panting on the side of the road - It was very hot at 36C

The Camp Site is next to the Crocodile Bridge Park entrance gate and I had to check-in at the entrance gate reception. There is a small Park Shop at the Park Gate Entrance. A fuel station is located in the Rest Camp,
This is a small camp site with some chalets. I walked around the camp sites to find a vacant camp site with less than 20m distance to the electrical plug connection and found one with a resident bushbuck.
