The Syilx (Okanagan Nation) indicate on their website that they represent the interests of the Colville Confederated Tribes (including the local Sinixt people) in the Canadian parts of their territory. Many Sinixt descendants joined the Okanagan Nation Alliance once it was unsafe to stay in the Arrow Lakes/Slocan region and the arbitrary Canada/US border bisected their traditional territory. The Syilx Unity Declaration - declares that the Colville Confederated Tribes and the Okanagan Nation Alliance will work together for political, cultural, economic and territorial unity.
Press Release (2019) from the Syilx Nation regarding the Desautel Decision - This press release notes that thousands of Sinixt descendant are members of the Syilx Okanagan Nation and have ancestral connections to our area. It also notes that testimony from Syilx elders helped the Sinixt win their historic case.
