School, Sick Days, and the Big Yellow Bus

SCHOOL IS FUN BUT TIRING

Connor LOVES school but it is exhausting! He only goes half days in the afternoon and when he gets home, he's just tuckered out. The first week, he kept falling asleep earlier and earlier and sleeping through the night. On Monday he went to bed his usual 9pm time. On Tuesday he fell asleep by 8pm. On Wednesday he fell asleep before 7pm. Thursday he came home and pretty much passed out before 6:30pm. Then on Friday, he woke up in the morning well but then passed out at 11am. There was no waking him up for school so he stayed home. When he woke up and I told him no school for the day, he was SO mad at me!

By Friday evening, it was clear he had caught a bug. He had a runny nose and cough all weekend. Monday of the second week he was still sick. He kept pointing inside his mouth and saying, "It hurts!" We took him to his pediatrician on Tuesday. Unfortunately he had both strep throat AND enterovirus, with icky sores all over his throat. Poor baby. He got a penicillin shot and stayed home the rest of the week. Days of school: 10, Days sick: 6. :(

He's been slowly recovering, but still has that lingering cough. It was only yesterday that he was showing full signs of his bubbly self.

THE BIG YELLOW SCHOOL BUS

Today he went back to school and got to ride on the school bus for the very first time! He liked it so much, he wanted to ride the bus home when I picked him up from school this afternoon. I took him to and from school myself the first week because I wanted to see him off that first few days. From now on, the plan is that the bus takes him to school and I pick him up with big brother to go home.
