Established in the early 1990s by and for family carers, Carers NZ acts as the national peak body providing information, advice, learning and support for carers in our network.
Established in November 2004, the NZ Carers Alliance is a consortium of 47 national not for profits striving for better support and recognition for New Zealand’s 490,000+ family, whānau, and aiga carers.
International Alliance of Carer Organizations
IACO members are working collaboratively and independently to raise awareness of carers, identify and disseminate best practices and enhance carer well-being. Once seen as a personal and private matter in family life, unpaid caregiving has become one of the most important social and economic policy issues worldwide.

Carers UK (established in the early 1960’s) supports carers and provides information and advice about caring, influence policy through research based on carers’ real life experiences and campaign to make life better for carers.
Carers Trust offers a wide range of resources and information for anyone who works with carers.
Carers Canada is a national coalition dedicated to increasing recognition and support for caregivers. Through collaborative engagement, members work to build awareness and recognition of the role of caregivers and the challenges they face. Carers Canada leads federal advocacy initiatives and national awareness campaigns.
Care Alliance Ireland is the National Network of Voluntary Organisations supporting Family Carers. Our vision is that the role of Family Carers is fully recognised and valued by society in Ireland.
National Alliance for Caregiving
National Alliance for Caregiving (established in 1996 in the USA) is a non-profit coalition of national organizations focusing on advancing family caregiving through research, innovation and advocacy. The Alliance conducts research, does policy analysis, develops national best-practice programs, and works to increase public awareness of family caregiving issues.
