SIGNITURE ASSESSMENT

This assignment is a culmination of everything that has been learned in the course thus far.  I have created a proposal to train teachers on Nearpod in our district. Please watch the video below to listen to the proposal.  Please read through the Topic Selection document below to learn more about the proposal.

Topic Selection

Identify a topic that would be suitable for developing an instructional unit for the course project and explain the key goal of this instruction. Provide a brief rationale in which you explain how you are knowledgeable about the subject and why you find the subject interesting. Also describe why you think the content is manageable and can be taught in about 20 minutes, and why your topic could be categorized as an intellectual skill.

Topic: How to create a Nearpod presentation.

Goal of Instruction: Learners will be able to create a Nearpod presentation consisting of at least 5 slides and two Nearpod activities.

Rationale: Nearpod is used heavily in our school district, yet many do not know how to use it/how to use all its functions. I am a Nearpod certified Educator, so I am very knowledgeable with this subject.  This content is manageable and can be taught in 20 minutes because I have chosen a shorter Nearpod length and users can upload presentations that have already been made.  This will cover only how to create a Nearpod, and not going over all the features, this will be manageable in the time provided.  A second, in person, session would need to be implemented to go over the “behind the scenes” features of Nearpod.

Task Analysis

The task analysis should include a list of three to five tasks to complete a job. For each task identify a minimum of 3 steps an expert learner (or an individual who knows how to complete the task) would follow to learn the instructional goal for your project. Create a list of three to five questions you might ask a subject matter expert (SME) related to the task as a follow-up to your analysis.

Goal of Instruction: Create a Nearpod presentation of at least five slides with two Nearpod activities.

Tasks:

1. Upload or Start a New Presentation.

             a. Sign into Nearpod using Clever account

             b. Click on create-“Lessons”

             c. Upload previously made PowerPoint or start inserting slides by clicking “Add Slide”

2. Identify content and activities appropriate for learning.

   a. Identify content that needs to be presented to learners and create one objective slide and two content slides

   b. Look through the different activity options and figure out which would be best for the lesson and learners

c. Choose at least one activity that would help with content retention and input the information required to fulfill the activity’s needs

3. Locate where activity data is stored

             a. Save the presentation that has been created.

   b. Open “Reports”, located on the left navigation bar

             c. Select the presentation you have created to view the activity’s data

Questions related to the tasks for the SME:

1. Are the objectives achievable for the learners?

2. How effective are the measurements/evaluations?

3. What other steps might need to be included while creating a Nearpod?

Performance Objectives and Measurements

For this study, develop three objectives based on the results of your task analysis. Your project should include one objective for three different tasks listed in your task analysis project. You should have a total of three objectives.

Objectives

1.  The learner will be able to (TLWBAT) open and create a Nearpod.

2. TLWBAT insert content to a Nearpod they have created.

3. TLWBAT successfully access the data hub to analyze activity results.

Measurements/Evaluation

1. Learners will complete activities within the Nearpod presentation that demonstrates understanding.

2. Learners will successfully create a four slide Nearpod including one objective slide, two content slides, and one activity slide.

3.  Learners will successfully navigate their way through Nearpod to access data.
