TLC: Learning for Tomorrow

Murdoch University's Uni-Ready Program for Year Twelve Students
During my senior year, I completed Murdoch University's TLC: Learning for Tomorrow University-Ready Program. On completion, this course is considered the equivalent of a 70 ATAR and can be used as entry into most of Murdoch University's undergraduate courses. This is beneficial to me as our school does not follow an ATAR structure, so TLC assists me in proving my academic capabilities and English requirements for future studies.
I attended the Rockingham Murdoch Campus after school every Monday and spent two hours with a lecturer learning skills for university. This included academic writing, APA referencing, reference analysing, researching, paraphrasing, and applying a growth mindset. I've always loved writing, but have struggled in the past with how structured academic papers are. TLC has assisted me in becoming confident with writing for academia and I have surprised myself by enjoying the process leading up to my final essay.Â
My final essay thesis for the first semester was 'Governments of surrounding and contributing states should prioritise funding clean-up initiatives to significantly reduce the size of the Great Pacific Garbage Patch in efforts to protect marine life from plastic pollution, reduce microplastics, and preserve food webs in the Pacific Ocean.'
In Term Three, we chose an elective unit to complete our course. I participated in Criminology & Digital Media in preparation for law.
