Stand Up for Young Minds - Zero2HeroÂ
During the April school holidays, I had the privilege of being accepted to Zero to Hero's Camp Hero Leadership, and I was not prepared for the incredible impact that it had on me. Camp Hero Leadership is one of Zero to Hero's endeavours to break the stigma around mental health by encouraging tough conversations, training people with the skills to assist someone in crisis, and teaching young people to become mental health leaders in their community. Our camp was one of their largest ever to date with 40 compassionate students from all over Western Australia. Camp Hero was five days in Nanga, Dwellingup with no itineraries, no phone, and no clocks. It was a week of physical and mental challenges, new adventures and some of the kindest people I have ever met. Most of the photos below are from day three, the only day we had a photographer. Without access to technology, I leave camp hero with only my memories and notes to document the experience, but the skills and friendships I have taken home with me will empower me for a lifetime.
