KIC iScience Project

KIC iScience Project (Year 10, Term 4, 2022)

During October and November 2022, I had the opportunity to represent our school in the KIC iScience project. I participated every Monday and Wednesday for four weeks getting to know the awesome bunch of other Year 10 students from local schools. We went out to two industrial power plant sites, Murdoch University, the Construction Futures Centre and Native Plants WA, and were joined by many people from different science industries giving insight into career pathways and study opportunities. 

iScience was insightful for me as I was interested in environmental science at the time. It was all really valuable and and came at the right time for me. The iConference on Monday 28th of November was our final program day held at Murdoch University, and included students from all the KIC projects that year.

Murdoch University's Santos Science Experience

13th - 15th of December 2022

During the following school holidays in December, I had the opportunity to attend the Santos Science Experience at Murdoch University after I was awarded one of the three scholarships from KIC. Each of the three days was filled with various science-based activities led by University lecturers in their classrooms. I enjoyed Marine Biology the most, and learned some new skills in coding and new knowledge in forensic science. I left feeling inspired & happy knowing I'd explored some potential university options.
