Health Literacy and Education Report
During the weeks & holiday period of term three twenty-twenty-three, I conducted in-depth research into the Western Australian Health Scope and Sequence. Following my involvement in Youth Parliament, I have become increasingly interested in the way sexuality, sex education and menstrual health are taught in schools and conducted a survey to get the input of adolescent students. Once I'd collected my data from testable questions, I wrote a report using my hypothesis and evaluated my conclusions. My advisor edited my report and gave me feedback that I then included. Following the completion of my report, I liaised with the associate principal of our primary school and shared my resources with her for them to implement into the health classes in years 4, 5 & 6.

Empirical Report Process
Undertake research of broad topics surrounding health education and literacy in Australia
Develop specific research questions to investigate further; consent laws, health curriculum outline
Develop questions to include in survey
Develop testable questions (yes/no answers) to compare results to
Design survey on Google Forms
Have peers and advisors read questions and give feedback
Implement feedback and refine process
Share link with the Adolescent Program Students in years 7-12
Gather results after a month
Transfer results (34) to a Google Sheet
Analyse results by making correlations between demographics and answers
Colour-code sheet for readability
Draft report outline based on pre-determined testable questions
Draft report paragraphs based on the yes/no outcome of the testable questions
Include research notes for each paragraph
Advisor to edit draft
Apply edits to good copy
Proofread and format document
Make notes to expand survey to the City of Rockingham, work with RYRG members.
Quantitative Formula Process
The quantitative data I collected from my survey was used in a spreadsheet for mathematics to display the standard deviation and averages. This is helpful for analysing data and concluding numerical results.
Develop Excel spreadsheet based on mathematics work on median, mean, mode, range and developing formulas.
Input relevant data from survey results into Excel spreadsheet
Insert formulas that read above data (x if yes, x if no, vertical lookup)
Insert formulas to read data and display standard deviation
Advisor to check formula
