Transformative Teaching: 7 inspiring activities empower learner and teacher

Do we want to increase our impact in the classroom and beyond? Transformative teaching inspires students to be life-long learners and prepares them for a rapidly changing world. This session provides opportunities to reflect upon teaching practices, shares trials and errors of such attempts, and creates empowering learning environments for all. Using inquiry-based learning model, the presenters first examine several teaching units on social justice and service learning(e.g., Paralympics, Heroes, etc.). Then, they identify and analyze what has galvanized students to engage in critical thinking, collaborative partnerships, and deep learning. The session shares the 7 most successful and transformative activities that have motivated students, and provides opportunities with the audience to discuss how to further transform their teaching. The presenters share curriculum and activities with the audience.
