TITLE: 2020 Tokyo Olympics: Cultivate Futuristic Mindset Through Gamification

November 18, 2018 New Orleans

The 2020 Tokyo Olympics is implementing some of the most sophisticated emerging technologies on the planet: Robot village, Artificial meteor showers, Super-speed maglev trains, and more. To inspire the next generation, this presentation showcases innovative curriculum that is centered around the Tokyo Olympics. Based on the PBL model, students learn about Tokyo Olympics collaboratively through gamification (WebQuest, Kahoot, etc.). To explore further, they connect with Japanese communities. Finally, inspired students take a virtual trip to Japan, explore volunteer opportunities, and share their findings with local communities. The future belongs to those who can adopt a growth mindset. Throughout this process, students are encouraged to be imaginative, self-driven and reflective. This session shares curriculum, lesson plans, and useful information with the audience to the benefit of all.
