What’s New for AP Japanese Curriculum and Exam?
College Board’s Advanced Placement (AP) prepares students to pursue college-level studies with the opportunity to earn college credit. Since the onset of Japanese AP Exam in 2007, AP exam has galvanized and accredited the Japanese language teaching community in the US. This presentation will focus on major updates on AP curriculum, AP classroom, and AP exam and its delivery from the fall of 2019 to present day. Special focus is given to Course Themes and Course Skills (skill categories 1-8) using specific examples. This presentation also showcases how several college faculty members supported AP students by creating college-level lecture videos through the College Board YouTube channel AP Daily in AY2019-2020. In the session, the audience will experience how student responses were scored holistically using actual samples,and discuss how AP curriculum and exam serves as one of effective articulation tools at the K-16.
