After a whole-class reading of Native American myths as well as a discussion about themes and characteristics found within the stories, students formed teams to incorporate technology into a quick presentation about their chosen myth. Students were asked to describe the origin(s) of their myth and to provide three key details that showcase the Native Americans' understanding of life and culture. Students were encouraged to keep their presentation of their slideshow professional, which included making eye contact with the audience, introduction and conclusion included, and to not read off the screen.
Integrating technology into the classroom can be done in multiple ways, encouraging and modeling for students how to utilize technology, especially when creating their own work. All students have their own Chromebook and part of the requirement was to collaborate on one document, meaning that one student would the original, while sharing that original with their teammate(s). Only one group member was asked to submit, which reinforces optimizing technology to aid human life. Students also operated and used Google technology such as Google Slides and Google Classroom. Students also took what they had from a textbook and turned it into a technological example.
I had to adapt some of the requirements for two students, which was not impossible, but required a different type of adjustment skill that for me, as teacher, involved different thought processes. Some questions that I had to ask myself while accommodating the assignment was does this adjustment debilitate or aid the student? Does this requirement still reflect the original learning objectives so the student will still meet the standards as their fellow classmates? Can I aid this student in their adjusted activity in the same fashion as the rest of the students without making them feel singled out?
As for the technology aspect of the lesson, I am fairly acquainted with Google and its resources, so creating, fixing, and adjusting anything technological was quick and simple, which makes my life as a teacher that more easy.
