CURRENT DRESS CODE POLICY:
While Adams High School does not have school uniforms, we do have a standard of
dress. The rationale for having a dress code is that the world of work requires a certain
standard of dress. Schools require a standard as well. We are an academic institution and
each student’s manner of dress influences the learning environment for every student.
While no dress code can itemize every item of dress that is unacceptable, the following
“NO” list provides an outline of expectations. Within the guidelines as set forth in the
rationale provided below, the administration reserves the right to deem the
appropriateness of student dress.
- No revealing or suggestive clothes (For example: Pants should be pulled up, underwear not visible, and navels should be covered)
- No tank tops, bare midriffs, tube tops, muscle shirts, spaghetti straps
- No alcohol, tobacco, profanity, cult, or gang affiliated clothing
- No boxer shorts, biker shorts, short shorts/skirts (shorts and skirts must be at least one inch below fingertips)
- No clothing with excessive rips, tears, or holes
- No hats, bandannas, hairnets, or dew rags
- No coats in class
- No book bags, backpacks, or large purses in class
- No sunglasses
- No slippers
- No pajamas
