Once upon a chilly October evening, the moon hung high in the sky, glowing like a pumpkin. In a little haunted town, ten spooky friends were preparing for the biggest night of the year—Halloween!
10 Goblins scurried around, gathering candy buckets. "We need lots of treats!" they shouted. But one goblin tripped over his own feet and tumbled away. Now there were 9 Goblins left.
9 Skeletons danced in the moonlight, clacking their bones together. But one got so dizzy that he spun out of sight! "Oh well!" laughed the others. Now there were 8 Skeletons left.
8 Witches flew on their broomsticks, cackling as they soared. But one witch zoomed so fast, she flew into the clouds and disappeared! Now there were 7 Witches left.
7 Black Cats prowled the streets, their green eyes glowing in the dark. But one saw a mouse and dashed into the bushes. Now there were 6 Black Cats left.
6 Ghosts floated through the air, howling "Ooooooo!" But one ghost got tangled in a tree branch and drifted away. Now there were 5 Ghosts left.
5 Vampires flapped their capes, searching for spooky fun. But one vampire saw the sunrise and hurried back to his coffin. Now there were 4 Vampires left.
4 Werewolves howled at the moon, their fur gleaming silver. But one heard a noise and ran off into the woods. Now there were 3 Werewolves left.
3 Zombies shuffled along, groaning and moaning. But one zombie tripped over a gravestone and wandered away. Now there were 2 Zombies left.
2 Bats flapped their wings, swooping around the old haunted house. But one bat flew too far and got lost in the dark. Now there was only 1 Bat left.
That 1 Little Bat flew and flew, searching for his spooky friends. He circled the haunted house, the graveyard, and the pumpkin patch until… he found them all waiting for him at the biggest, best Halloween party ever!
They laughed, they danced, and they shared candy, because even though they were spooky, they were also the best of friends.
Happy Halloween!
