Lila and Ben sat in their room, staring at Milo the Magic Globe, whose surface sparkled like the stars.
“Ready for another adventure?” Milo asked, his voice filled with excitement.
“Yes!” Lila exclaimed. “Where to this time?”
“Brazil!” Milo said as his glow enveloped them, transporting the trio to a land of endless wonders.
When they opened their eyes, they were standing in a lively marketplace, surrounded by vibrant stalls selling colorful fruits, handcrafted jewelry, and exotic spices.
“Olá, friends!” called a voice. A girl with curly hair tied in a bright scarf approached. “I’m Sofia, your guide. Welcome to Brazil! I hope you’re ready for an adventure.”
Their first stop was the Amazon Rainforest. “This is the largest rainforest in the world,” Sofia said. “We call it the ‘lungs of the Earth.’”
As they walked through the dense jungle, the kids heard the chatter of monkeys and the distant call of a toucan. Suddenly, a small capuchin monkey swung down from a branch and stole Ben’s baseball cap.
“Hey! That’s mine!” Ben shouted, running after the mischievous monkey.
Sofia laughed. “Don’t worry, they love to play tricks. Let’s trade!” She handed Ben a banana. He offered it to the monkey, who dropped the cap and snatched the fruit with glee.
“That’s one cheeky monkey,” Lila said, laughing.
Next, Sofia took them to Rio de Janeiro to see the iconic Christ the Redeemer statue. They rode a trolley up Mount Corcovado, passing through lush greenery.
“Wow, it’s huge!” Ben said as they gazed at the statue.
“It stands 98 feet tall!” Sofia explained. “And look at the view—it’s the whole city!”
Lila took out her sketchbook to draw the stunning panorama. “This will be the best picture in my travel journal,” she said.
Even though it wasn’t Carnival season, Sofia took them to a workshop where costumes were being made. Glitter, feathers, and sequins covered the tables.
“Can we try some on?” Ben asked.
“Of course!” Sofia said, handing him a golden mask. Lila picked a headdress bursting with bright pink feathers.
Suddenly, a samba band started playing outside. Sofia grabbed a tambourine, and the kids joined the impromptu parade. They danced through the streets, laughing and clapping to the music.
At a local park, kids were playing soccer. “Want to join?” Sofia asked.
Ben’s face lit up. “Yes!”
The game was fast and competitive. Ben managed to score a goal, and the local kids cheered. “That was awesome!” Ben said, high-fiving his new friends.
“Soccer, or futebol, is like a second religion here,” Sofia said. “Brazilians love it!”
The group traveled to Iguaçu Falls, where the thundering water and mist created rainbows. Lila closed her eyes, feeling the spray on her face.
“Let’s go closer!” she said, dragging Ben toward a walkway that led to the base of the falls.
“You’ll get soaked!” Sofia warned, but they didn’t care. Laughing, they stood in the mist, water splashing around them.
After their adventures, Sofia introduced them to Brazilian cuisine. They tried pão de queijo (cheese bread), which was warm and chewy, and brigadeiros (chocolate truffles).
“These are amazing!” Lila said, licking chocolate off her fingers.
“Wait until you try feijoada,” Sofia said, bringing out a hearty black bean stew.
Ben looked skeptical but took a bite. “This is delicious!”
As the sun set, Sofia gave them a small wooden toucan. “This is for you,” she said. “To remind you of Brazil’s beauty and spirit.”
Milo began to glow again. “Time to head home,” he said.
“Thank you, Sofia!” Lila and Ben said, waving as the light enveloped them.
Back in their room, Lila opened her sketchbook to draw the day’s adventures, while Ben played with the toucan figurine.
“I wonder where Milo will take us next,” Lila said with a smile.
