Ben and Lila placed their hands on Milo the Magic Globe, and in a swirl of golden light, they landed in the heart of Washington, D.C. “Wow!” Lila gasped, looking up at the grand white dome of the U.S. Capitol.
Their guide, a friendly historian named Mr. Carter, greeted them with a smile. “Welcome to the capital of the United States! There’s so much to see and do here.”
A Walk Through History
Their first stop was the Lincoln Memorial, where Ben stood in awe before the massive statue of Abraham Lincoln. “Did you know this is where Martin Luther King Jr. gave his ‘I Have a Dream’ speech?” Mr. Carter asked. Lila closed her eyes, imagining the powerful words echoing through history.
They walked along the National Mall, stopping to admire the Washington Monument, the tallest stone structure in the world. “Let’s count the steps to the top,” Ben joked, but Milo chuckled, “That’s 897 steps—you might need a snack break halfway up!”
Exciting Museums and Fun Activities
Next, they visited the Smithsonian National Air and Space Museum, where they saw the Wright brothers' plane and a real moon rock. “Touching a piece of the moon? That’s out of this world!” Lila exclaimed.
At the National Museum of Natural History, they stood in awe before the giant Hope Diamond and marveled at T-Rex fossils. “Imagine if dinosaurs roamed D.C.!” Ben laughed.
At the International Spy Museum, they became junior spies, decoding secret messages and crawling through air ducts on a top-secret mission.
A Bite of D.C.
For lunch, they stopped at a food truck serving half-smokes, a D.C. specialty. “Spicy, smoky, and delicious!” Ben grinned. They also tried cherry blossom cupcakes in honor of the city’s famous cherry trees.
A Magical Ending
As the sun set, they visited the White House and watched it glow against the night sky. “So many presidents have lived here,” Lila said in wonder.
Before they left, Milo twirled, showing a vision of D.C. in the spring, covered in pink cherry blossoms. “We’ll have to come back for the festival!”
With one last look at the shining capital, the golden light swirled again, and they were home. “Where to next, Milo?” Ben asked.
“Anywhere history and adventure await!” Milo replied with a wink.
