It was a quiet morning in Lila and Ben’s cozy living room when Milo the Magic Globe began to glow brightly on the table.
“Where are we going today, Milo?” Lila asked, excitement bubbling in her voice.
Milo spun in place and gleamed with a golden hue. “How about Maine? The Pine Tree State! It’s full of natural beauty, delicious seafood, and some fascinating landmarks.”
“That sounds awesome!” Ben said, grabbing his jacket. “Let’s go!”
In a flash of light, the trio was whisked away and found themselves standing on the rocky shores of the Atlantic Ocean, the crisp smell of saltwater in the air.
“Welcome to Maine!” Milo announced. “This state is famous for its stunning lighthouses, fresh lobsters, and rugged coastline.”
Lila’s eyes widened as she pointed to a nearby lighthouse perched on a cliff. “Is that a real lighthouse?”
“That’s Portland Head Light,” Milo said. “It’s one of the most photographed lighthouses in the world, and it’s been guiding sailors since 1791.”
The trio walked closer, taking in the picturesque view of the ocean waves crashing against the rocky shore. Ben snapped photos with his camera while Lila marveled at the lighthouse's towering structure.
Feeling hungry, they wandered into a quaint seaside town where the smell of freshly cooked seafood wafted through the air.
“Maine is known for its lobsters,” Milo said. “It’s the lobster capital of the United States!”
They stopped at a small lobster shack, where the friendly owner served them buttery lobster rolls. “Did you know Maine’s coast stretches over 3,400 miles?” the owner said. “That’s longer than California’s!”
“That’s incredible!” Ben said, savoring his lobster roll.
Next, Milo led them to Acadia National Park, one of the state’s most beloved treasures. The park was alive with vibrant greenery, colorful wildflowers, and trails that wound through dense forests and up rocky cliffs.
“This is the highest point on the East Coast,” Milo explained as they climbed to the top of Cadillac Mountain. “You can see the sunrise here before anywhere else in the U.S.”
Standing on the summit, Lila and Ben gazed out at the sweeping views of the Atlantic Ocean and the surrounding islands. “It’s breathtaking,” Lila whispered.
Milo spun again, and they arrived at an unexpected sight: a sandy expanse stretching out before them.
“Wait, is this a desert?” Ben asked, puzzled.
“Yes, it’s the Desert of Maine,” Milo said with a chuckle. “It’s a natural phenomenon caused by poor farming practices long ago. Now it’s a fascinating tourist spot.”
The trio explored the sandy landscape, marveling at its uniqueness.
As the sun began to set over Maine’s rugged coastline, Milo glowed softly. “It’s time to head home.”
Lila sighed. “Maine is so beautiful. The lighthouses, the lobster, the mountains… it’s all amazing.”
Ben nodded. “I’ll never forget this adventure.”
With one last look at the golden horizon, Milo whisked them back home, leaving behind the sights and sounds of Maine but keeping the memories alive in their hearts.
“Where to next, adventurers?” Milo asked with a twinkle.
Lila and Ben smiled. “We’re ready for anything!”
