Teachers have been incorporating media into teaching us in many ways. The two main types of media our school uses is internet media and print media. Internet media includes websites, videos and social media. Print media includes books, newspapers, and pamphlets. Here are examples were we used each type of media in the classroom:
In Ms.Mika’s class, we made an Instagram-based project through the creation of accounts for historical people during the American Revolution, like Thomas Jefferson, Abigail Adams, and George Washington. At the end of the Histogram project, we presented to our classmates to teach about the important role of each person. This is an example of how we can use modern-day media to help us learn.
More examples of internet media is when we use Google Classroom to view our assignments and connect with our teachers. Google Classroom is a social network. Many of the teachers are using this social network to assign work and make sure the students get it all done.
Another example of media in the classroom is in Mr. Tisdale’s class. The seventh graders are reading “The Sea of Monsters” by Rick Riordan. This is print media and is just as fun as internet media!
Sometimes, we use print media in Ms. Mika’s classroom. We take cornell notes using the textbook. This is an easy way to learn the topic and gain a basic understanding of the vocabulary words. A textbook is an example of print media.
We watch videos all the time in different classes. Most of the time, the video is meant to help make something clearer or teach us something new. One last example is when we watched Netflix in Ms. Mika’s class. The show is called “Turn” and is a reenactment of the American Revolution. Everything ties in to what we are learning, making this an amazing resource for Ms. Mika! This is internet media.
