The play has been going great so far. So far, we have done most of the songs.
Interview with Mr. Tisdale:
Q: How long have you been directing the school play?
A: 5 years
Q: Which plays have you done in the past?
A: Lion King Jr., The Wiz, Fame Jr., and High School Musical
Q: Why do you like theater and the arts so much?
A:I wanted to be an actor growing up and I believe that there is nothing more important than theater. The arts change lives and bring people together.
Q: Which factor was biggest when making the cast list - dancing, singing, or reading out the lines?
A: The most important part is the student being able to pull off the character. It is a combination of personality combined with an ability to deliver lines.
Q: Did you do theater as a child?
A: I did school plays and when I was older I performed with a theater company at Nork Symphony hall. I did a gospel musical where I played a pastor, the Christmas carol where I played the ghost of Christmas past and future.
Q: What are the main challenges that you see kids go through?
A: Understanding that it’s not about them but about delivering a performance. It is about making the production the best it can be. It is hard for a lot of young people to tell the story from the perspective of the character.
Q: What is your favorite part of the musical?
A: The end result. Seeing the changes that the students have gone through and realizing that they have potential.
Q: What is your least favorite part of the musical?
A: The time it takes to put it all together.
else. It is hard for a lot of young people to tell the story from the perspective of the character.
Mr. Tisdale also said “Make sure to purchase a ticket to the play. My kids are going to be even more amazing after I whip them into shape.”
Interview with Mr. D:
Q: How far are you with the music?
A: We have learned all but one song, A Whole New World. All songs have been taught and reinforced but now the students have to go home and do work.
Q: How cooperative are the kids?
A: They are cooperative but a lot of them don't show up to rehearsals.
Q: Is this year's cast’s singing better or worse than last year's singing?
A: Our sound this year is much fuller because we have about 10 more students than last year, but we can’t judge better or worse. It's just different.
Q: How are the sets made?
A: We build them with wood and tools. Miss Miller is in charge of props and I help her sometimes
Q: How was the play getting money before you started the store?
A: It was just the candy bars
Q: What is the main thing the cast needs to work on?
A: They need to practice at home. If they don't practice the show will be bad.
Q: Did you do theater?
A: Greece twice (4 years old I played the car Greased Lightning, in middle school, I played Doody). Horton in Seussical. Throughout high school, I was the stage manager which means I was the head of the stage crew and I ran the sound and the lights.
