There are many ways to begin the writing process. Some people journal and write down whatever comes to mind, not much thought or editing is involved for this. However, a more formal way to write would being with brainstorming what it is you would like to write about. Brainstorming allows you to organize your thoughts before putting them down on paper. When I brainstorm, I like to think of the theme of my paper and how I will present it to the audience. The next step would be to starting to write by utilizing all the idea you came up with when you were brainstorming. This is called the zero draft. I know for me, it is hard to start a paper but when I get going, eventually my ideas start flowing and I get into a rhythm. The zero draft is far from perfect. In fact, I find it best to write a lot on the zero draft because you might decide to get rid of most of it. However, there also might be something you really like that you will include in your final draft. The one of last step in the writing process is editing and revising your zero draft. This just means you will be cleaning up and perfecting your paper to your liking. Lastly, you will conclude your paper by summing up the main points. Writing can be hard and intimidating. My favorite part of the writing process would have to be brainstorming because it really helps me organize my thoughts.
