Vrms = Vpeak/ √2
Vavg @ Vdc @ Vo = Vpeak/ π = 0.318 Vm
Io = Vo/R = 0.318Vm/R
To convert alternating current to unidirectional current flow, which produces positive deflection when passed through a PMMC, the diode rectifier is used. Several types of rectifiers are selected such as a copper oxide rectifier, a vacuum diode, or semiconductor or “crystal diode”.
Solution:
Method 1
The sensitivity of the meter movement, 1k / Ifs = 1k / 1m = 1kΩ/V
Rs = Sdc x Rangedc – Rm
= 1k x (0.45Erms)/1 - Rm
= 4.2kΩ
Method 2
The ac sensitivity for half wave rectifier, Sac = 0.45Sdc = 0.45(1k) = 450Ω/V
Rs = Sac X Rangeac – Rm
= 450 X 10 –300
= 4.2kΩ
Method 3
Rs = ( 0.45Erms / Ifs ) - Rm
= (( 0.45 x 10 ) / 1m) - 300
= 4.2kΩ
