WHAT IS DC VOLTMETER???...
A DC voltmeter...
is measuring tool used to determine the DC voltage.
between any two locations in an electric circuit.
By putting a multiplier Rs in series with the meter movement, the D' Arsonval instrument can be converted to a voltmeter.
Where,
Rse -Rse is the series multiplier resistance
V -V is the full range DC voltage that is to be measured
Im -Im is the full scale deflection current
Rm -Rm is the internal resistance of galvanometer
so the function of Rs???
here it is, to limit the current through the meter as to not exceed the full scale deflection of current
Sensitivity...
-express the value of the multiplier resistence for 1v range.
to calculate...
π π = (π Γ π ππππ) - π π
π πππ‘ππ= π Γ π ππππ
Rs value...
The sensitivity (S) of the meter movement must be determined before the value of the multiplier resistor can be determined.
by using:
S= (1/ I f.s.d)Ξ© /π
MULTI RANGE
A DC voltmeter can be converted into a multirange voltmeter by connecting a number of resistors (multipliers) in series with the meter movement using multiposition switch
all multiplier resistances except the lowest range π 4 have the standard value and also very precise in tolerances
π 4 is the only special resistor which has to be specially manufactured to meet the circuit requirements.
List of formulas in DC Voltmeter...
V = Im (Rs + Rm)
Rs = (V - ImRm) / Im
Rs = (V / Im) - Rm
Sensitivity = Rt / Vrange
