Iiyama City’s Coordinator for International Relations (CIR), Gloria, is scheduled to complete her term on July 31, 2026. A photo exhibit will be held featuring photos she has taken over the course of her more than four years as a CIR, showcasing the charms of Iiyama City from a foreigner’s perspective. Please come and take a look!

Who: Iiyama City residents ages 6 and above (parents and adults are welcome!)

Sasa mochi is made by putting freshly made mochi on top of bamboo leaves (sasa). It is a local cuisine of Iiyama City, and many people eat it during breaks between farm work (especially during rice planting season). Why not make mochi together with other participants using the traditional method?

Content: Storytelling by trained storytellers and a talk show by Makio Fujioka himself

Makio Fujioka's picture books depict the rich nature and daily lives of people in Shinshu (Nagano Prefecture) with a gentle touch and vivid colors, beloved by readers of all ages. This exhibition features over 100 works, primarily original illustrations selected from 15 picture books published between 1999 and 2025. Visitors can fully appreciate the delicate brushwork unique to original artworks and immerse themselves in the fantastical, fairy-tale-like worldview.
