In honor of Sengoku warlord UESUGI Kenshin, who reinforced Iiyama Castle and was fond of falconry, a demonstration of the ancient art of falconry will be held at Iiyama Castle Ruins Park.
Note: Hawks are afraid of dogs and cannot fly when dogs are around. Please refrain from bringing your dog to the falconry demonstration.

Hasegawa Seicho (1916-2004) was a highly acclaimed painter who received awards at the Nihon Bijutsuin (Japan Visual Arts Academy) exhibitions, and one of Iiyama City's notable painters. This exhibition will feature many works that have been exhibited at the Nihon Bijutsuin exhibitions as well as works owned by individuals and institutions in the city. Please take this opportunity to view these high-quality and unique paintings.

Iiyama Castle and its castle town were developed by Sengoku Daimyo Uesugi Kenshin as a political and economic base for successive lords of the castle. As we approach the 460th anniversary of the castle's construction, we look back on the history of Iiyama Castle and the castle town.
