The University of Dayton is committed to increasing diversity among educators and has operated an Urban Teacher Academy to support this mission. The University of Dayton is taking the lead with Miami University in developing rigorous clinical experiences for students pursuing teaching degrees and developing effective mentoring systems to support diverse students and their educators.

University of Dayton is the subrecipient of the Teach Now! project. This grant addresses the severe shortage of teachers, particularly Intervention specialists, math, and science teachers. Also, districts have difficulty recruiting for middle and high school positions.
University of Dayton is working with other four-year universities to recruit individuals interested in obtaining teacher degrees who have enough credits so that they are within one or at most wo years of obtaining a teacher degree.
