Central State University

Overview of Central State University's Work in Increasing Diversity in Educators

As the only public historically black college or university (HBCU) in Ohio, Central State University is a wonderful resource in the work to diversify educators.  Central State University is providing supports to students and also providing assistance to help individuals complete their teaching degrees and become licensed as educators.  Central State provides a variety of resources to support students and will also provide stipends through the Ohio Deans Compact grant.

Central State Scholarships for Teach24

Central State is a subrecipient of a grant secured by Wright State from the Ohio Department of Higher Education.   This grant addresses the severe shortage of teachers, particularly Intervention specialists, math, and science teachers.  Also, districts have difficulty recruiting for middle and high school positions.

Central  State is working with other four-year universities to recruit individuals interested in obtaining teacher degrees who have enough credits so that they are within one or at most wo years of obtaining a teacher degree.
