This is the -d and -ed suffixes
A suffix is a group of letters that go at the end of a word to give it meaning
The -d and -ed suffixes are used to change the tense of verbs
A verb is an action or doing word
Adding the -d or -ed suffix to a verb, makes the verb past tense
For example, calculate -> calculated
Synthetic Inquiry: Technically, there is only one suffix to make a verb past tense (-ed). When we have a word that ends in 'e', we are technically dropping the 'e' and then adding -ed. Write a rule in your book in your own words to help you remember this.
