How the use of buildings have changed over the years.
16 Northcote Street, Stockton was built as a Baptist Chapel in 1885 and opened with a seating capacity of 200.
Reverend D Ross commenced duties there on the 9th March 1890.
It continued to operate as a chapel until 1909. By 1910 it was only used as a Sunday school.
Wards Directory of 1924/25 shows it was still being used as a Sunday School. It appears to have ceased being used by 1932/33 and stood empty for a while.
It was then used as a warehouse, possibly for Pinkneys, the confectioners next door. The photo below, taken 1986, shows it to be boarded up.

The building remained empty for many years before becoming the Jamia Al-Bilal Mosque.
Bowesfield Lane Methodist Chapel was built on the corner of Bowesfield Lane and Westbourne Street in 1887.
Bowesfield Lane Chapel closed as part of the rationalisation that followed the unification of the Primitive and Wesleyan Methodist traditions, and despite having a congregation of around a hundred it closed its doors for the last time on the 6th July 1958.
The building later became the Rainbow Centre for mentally handicapped people where they would make things out of wood to sell in the local community.
Following the closure of the Rainbow Centre, the building stood empty for many years before being demolished.
The Farooq E Azam Mosque and Islamic Centre was built on the piece of land.
Stockton Hospital
The Hospital was situated on Bowesfield Lane, across the road from Bowesfield Lane Schools.
According to Kelly's Trade Directory of 1890 -
The Stockton Hospital, standing on about 2½ acres, in Bowesfield Lane, bordering on the south-west suburb of the town, was erected from designs by Mr Eugene E Clephan, architects of Stockton on Tees, at a cost, including site, of about £8,000, and is a building of red brick with local stone dressings in a modified Gothic style: the administrative department, which occupies the centre, comprises the main entrance, medical officers' and committee rooms, with surgery for in and out patients and operating theatre: a ward with 7 beds was added for females and children in 1884, at a cost of £105: the south-east wing, the only one at present built, contains two large wards, 40 feet by 30 feet, and 3 special or accident wards, 12 feet by 15 feet 6 inches, with the usual nurses' room, scullery and bath-room: the building at present contains 40 beds.
Joseph Richardson, J.P, was President, Robert William Foss, M.D, was Senior Surgeon, Henry Hind, Joseph Whitfield Blandford, John Hague Clegg, Thomas William Fagg and Henry Milner Hughes were surgeons, George Mitchell Hogg M.B, C.M was House Surgeon, Miss Edith Lock, Matron, James Dinsdale + James Stothart, auditors + John Settle, sec.,
