Infants

The Infant School opened on the 30th of May 1881 under the leadership of Mrs. C H Martindale.  Kelly's Directory of Durham, Northumberland, Cumberland and Westmorland shows that in 1894 Bowesfield Lane Infants was under the control of Mrs C Martindale. There were 333 children on register with an average attendance of 299.

Junior Boys + Senior Boys

Bowesfield Lane Boys School opened in May 1881.  Bowesfield Junior Boys opened on the 2 November 1885 under the Headship of Mr Noble. Prior to this the boys had been working in the Boys Department along with Senior Boys.  On Monday January 6 1913 the Senior and Junior Boys became one department again.

Kelly's Directory of Durham, Northumberland, Cumberland and Westmorland shows that in 1894 Bowesfield Lane Junior Girls was in the charge of Miss Margaret Wilson. There were 204 girls on register with an average attendance of 197.
