Admissions
Junior Girls August 1907- June 1908
Senior Girls 1895 - 1913 ongoing
Junior Girls August 1908 - August 1923
(Girls Departments joined together again 1913 so some crossover with entries)
Reason for leaving notes
'Left the district' means left the local area around school, not the town
' Higher Grade' means the girls were receiving a higher education. Those that struggled were re-admitted back in to the junior classes until they reached 14.
'Removed to....' means that they physically moved elsewhere, not that they were removed from the school for any reason.
'Board school' - refers to the school being part of that areas Education Board and was not a boarding school as we know today.
'Private school' They were maintained by private endowment and not operated for profit.
'National' schools were often created by religious groups
For more information on 'Standards' pupils were listed as having achieved, see HERE.
Not all admission registers have survived, those that have have been digitised and can be viewed at Find My Past.
With the entries for the girls departments there is some crossover, with girls being listed in 2 different registers due to the departments being separated and then re-joining, but as a basic guide the following applies:
