25th November 1970 Lord Belstead, Joint Parliamentary Under Secretary of State for Education and Science together with entourage, and Mr Mason (Director) Ald. Hall (Ed. Com. Chairman) visited the school at 11.45 a.m for a scheduled seven minutes. The visit lasted twenty-five minutes. Later in the day Lord Belstead announced that a new school is to be provided and it should be started in 1972-73.

Nov 2nd 1972 Councillor Montrose called to inform us that the building of our new school was being postponed for another year, as the site cannot be cleared by 31st March 1973.
Jan 14th 1974 Miss Gray visited the school to explain the news that the proposed new open plan school to replace our present building had been postponed due to the present financial crisis.
1st September 1976 School re-opens after the holidays. During the afternoon, the nursery and infant children moved into our new school in Northcote Street.
3rd Sept The top infant children moved into the new school.
10th The first year juniors moved into the new building.
13th + 14th The rest of the juniors moved into the new building.
