Clients with limited health literacy often struggle to understand health-related information. By adjusting the communication skills of physiotherapists, we can ensure that the information is presented in a clear and easily understandable manner, thereby increasing their access to essential healthcare knowledge.
HL consultation skills are defined as the communication and client educational strategies that fit the needs of clients with LHL, for example, using plain language, teach-back and skills related to shared decision making and promoting self-management.
The developed communication skills training activities are classified into 5 categories:
1. Gathering Information from clients with LHL
2. Providing Information to clients with LHL
3. Shared Decision Making with clients with LHL
4. Cases (Artritis, COPD, Diabetes)
5. Clinical Simulations
