National Health Expenditures and State Health Expenditures are provided by the Office of the Actuaries at the Center for Medicare/Medicaid Services (CMS). Data that is years in arears is less and less relevant and actionable. A disciplined process is needed to strictly collect and upload data to a state authority like CDPHE, to then be uploaded to CMS Actuaries for aggregation at national levels.
National Health Accounts is a methodology developed by WHO and has long-standing recognition as a macro insight to overall national expenditures. Significant proposals for changes in US healthcare systems, or state level, should be projected at the expenditure and payer levels.
