All Payer Claims Data Examples

All-Payer Claims Databases have been created in only a few states. There is no template for standardizing the data extracted from them.

There are very few data sets available from APCDs for download. We can highlight some better examples:

• Vermont's VHCURES is managed by Green Mountain Health Care to support the state's Blueprint for Health. See an example from their Data Analytics pages, as well as an example of Community Health Profiles (data derived from their APCD)
• Utah APCD, uses Socrata to make data sets available in Excel format (CSV).
• New Hampshire APCD has data for procedure costs (charges and allowed costs), with 25th and 75th percentiles. We added the 75/25 ratios. However, no data by facility. Also, volumes are lacking. NH website contains metrics outside of claims, but awkward to navigate, and lacing simple, aggregated data sets. See example of "patient experience re discharge information."
• Colorado provides for an APCD, managed by CIVHC (Center for Improving Value in Health Care). We are waiting for data sets to be made available.
